Which piano band do YOU like better?

Personally, I would have to go with Keane, hands down. Actually, I hate Coldplay. I think chris martin's voice compared with tom chaplin's is like comparing a dodge neon to a Ferrari. Also, no one writes a melody like tim rice-oxley. What do you guys think?

Oh, and if you don't know who keane are, look up their album 'hopes and fears' and never look back. toodles

I personally love Keane and TRO was actually the reason I got back into piano.

No opinion on Coldplay really, other than it irks me they are more popular, especially in the US...

Very similar bands, Coldplay has a few great songs, the rest seem like filler to me. Same with Keane. I prefer ColdPlay because I find their best songs and Chris Martin to be very moving and soulful ...

Good ColdPlay songs:

Viva La Vida

Keane is pretty good...guy's got a nice voice, and their songs are well crafted. I think I have one or two of their albums, but I don't listen to them often. I find I wear through the pop stuff pretty quickly, and don't return to it.

Coldplay is alright too, but I've only got X&Y and it wasn't compelling enough for me to purchase any more of their albums. My biggest envy of Coldplay has nothing to do with their music however...I'm just jealous that the singer somehow nabbed Gwyneth Paltrow as his wife. :-)

I think I remember Cat Stevens saying Viva La Vida was like his Foreigner Suite... Well he was nice about it and thought it was flattering for them to use it. I don't hear it though.

Anyway, interesting Coldplay / Keane tidbit. Chris Martin and Tim Rice-Oxley went to college together and Chris invited Tim to join Coldplay. TRO turned it down to stay with Keane. Glad that happened. But really... What would you do with 2 pianist / songwriters?

Well My vote goes to Cold Play... many of their songs on the piano are awesome when mastered.
