You might be addicted to piano if...

You prefer a late night with a digital and headphones instead of Jay Leno.

The thought of time away from practice while on vacation causes cold sweats.

You encourage your kids to play the piano anytime, but only after they wash their hands.

In the evenings, your relationship has adapted to your significant other on the computer and you on the piano.

You collect way more sheet music than can be learned in two life times.

The furnace and a/c in your house is set for the comfort of your piano.

Your spouse says, ”Honey, I really need to talk to you” and your response is, “I’m almost done with this song.”

Any others?

Keep it fun, and stay motivated!

If you can achieve something without a struggle, it's not going to be satisfying.

You hit the spot!

... if you whistle your current piece.
... if you mentally play your current piece using your walk as metronome while you are out of home

...you walk past the room with piano in it, and are briefly startled with how bare the room is because the piano is missing, only to realize you haven't actually purchased a piano yet (but have already envisioned where it will go).

Learning to play since June 2009.

You are in a poker game listening to a Chopin Nocturne on your ipod, when you get involved in a big pot. Your decision to call a large bet or not is a close one. As you consider it, what goes through your mind is....... smokin

........well, I win either way, if I lose this pot I can go home and get some time in on the piano. grin

7 out of 7 for me! grin, but yikes! This hits a little too close.

I especially like #3 -- You know how new moms always ask, "did you wash your hands?" before you can hold their baby? Yeah... same for my piano.

I am totally addicted.
INDEED, I could go on vacation (FREE accommodation), but I just cannot renounce to practice.

You have callouses on your fingertips

Your nightmares involve piano keys that ripple and change places

Your family is actually used to hearing the revolutionary etude at 4 am

Slow down and do it right.

I have a keyboard, but it is still a bit heavy (and it only has 61 keys)... My father tried to convince the guy who could accommodate me to pick me up, but he said he can't... frown I would also feel a bit guilty leaving my other instruments here on their own... I would really need a car and somebody who picks me up, so I can go with my whole family.... 3hearts

Schmoe, yes! I've been to 2 different houses this past year and "entertained" people with their piano. My childhood Kimball piano is at my sister's house and I play it whenenver I'm there. It's got a much different sound than mine.

Wow, I saw myself in some of those.
I never let my kids play the grand without washing their hands. Um, is that weird?

Monica, yes, as a fellow disgruntled worker (disgruntled with the day job).....that's all I ever think about at work. frown

Here's some other ones (myself and others have brought these up before)...

....you forego chores to play piano.

...you can't resist walking past the piano without playing something...anything...even if it's just a few measures.

...
….you only listen to piano music..and nothing else.

…you drive your non-piano-playing loved ones crazy with all your piano talk.

....have burned a meal because you were playing piano...LOL

…have given up all of your other hobbies because of piano (I used to be a voracious reader and avid golfer).

* You plan shopping trips, day trips, and vacations around visiting Piano stores.

* You look forward to the piano tuner coming to your house like a child looks forward to Santa Claus.

* Your view your piano like it is a member of the family.

You stop calling your instrument "my piano" and start referring to it by its special pet name.

I'll figure it out eventually.
Until then you may want to keep a safe distance.

Jay Leno is a late night TV talk show host and comedian.

Here's another one--

You spend more time on Piano World Forum during work hours than you do working.

Thanks smile . I don't do "late night", "TV" or "talk show" so that would kind of explain why I hadn't heard of him, even if the fact that I'm on the other side of the world didn't... smile

...you actually have two keyboards in addition to your real piano so you can carry around whichever one fits the space you're going to play in. You'd hate to miss an opportunity to play because the space was so small, you know. . .

You actually managed to squeeze an old keyboard and bench into your parents' tiny spare bedroom and leave it there so you can practice during visits. (They're more important than a bed, right?)
