joey, is your piano new?

I have a new piano and have a the same crunchy feeling but worse. When I slowly press the key down, the hammer actually hit the string lightly when I reach the "crunchy" point. When I continue to press down, then(of course), the hammer hit the string again. In other words, if I try to play pianissimo, I either get the 1st weak sound, or I get 2 sounds with one key hit (wtf?) It's driving me mad. Does something like this actually happened to new piano? I mean, wouldn't something like this be ironed out in the factory? I wonder if this will be covered under warranty.....

Regulation of the keyboard/action will remedy this problem. If purchased new, these types of repairs would be completed while you receive your warranty tuning.

Silverwood, this is my first acoustic piano. Before that, I play Yamaha digital. So, there are so many things that I need to learn. Things like that will not happen to a digital piano. I had my 1st complimentary tuning done but failed to communicate this issue to the tech as I thought my way of playing was the culprit and the piano need to acclimatize. Then it dawn to me that I also play on some other acoustic piano and they don't have this kind of problem. I emailed the dealer and hopefully it will be covered under warranty *finger crossed*

The touch of an acoustic piano is much more complex than that of a digital.

Not aware of how many warranty tunings you receive there. If you get a couple of them, hopefully you will be able to get this corrected at the next appointment.
