I was given a Metropolitan spinet. It is in great shape cosmetically and after two tunnings and some minor adjustments has turned out to be a reasonable instrument considering that it is obviously a low end piano. I would like to know who actually made this piano. It was purchased new in 1992 and has a serial number of 584 93. I know that older Metropolitans were made by the Grand Piano Co, but this is a much newer model. I couldn't find anything in the Pierce Piano Atlas that would match up with my serial number. Can anyone enlighten me on any information about this piano?

According to Pierce Atlas, Metropolitain was used by the Esty company 1920-1949.

Metropolitain was a label also used by the Grand Piano Co. from 1961-1978.

I know of no other Metropolitain pianos made more recently than 1978. Frequently pianos are bought used and the fact that it is used either fades over the years or the used piano was misrepresented when sold. Any further information you have like where manufactured or a photo?
