I saw this ad on Craigslist the other day, in Chicago, and replied asking about the Maker. I never received a reply and it's still being listed. Can anyone tell me who may have made this? It's listed as an M. I'm just very curious.

That is definitely a Baldwin music desk, and a 5'2" Baldwin is a model M which they refer to in the ad.

I thought it was a Baldwin too but wanted others opinions. Are they really selling for $42 G's now? Sheesh!

I'd scoop it up if I had the cash.......but I don't.

Pianobuyer shows an MSRP range of $43,800 - $44,700 and an SMP range of $30,200 - $30,800. I doubt very many people pay $42K. If I were shopping for a small grand, that one would definitely get my interest.

The area code shows to be a suburb of Atlanta. They must be listing in Big Cities on Craigslist. I'm guessing the $2500 asking price does not include Shipping. :-)

Well pianoman, its around 1986 or older. They bought it new in 87 it says. Personally I would go for a baldwin before 1980.

I'm with you, Brandon. The more recent Baldwins just aren't as good. Our church bought a brand new L that would not stay in tune and Baldwin wouldn't do anything about it. We finally sold it about 3 years ago. We still have a late '90's M that plays awful, probably needs regulating. I think we're going to sell that one too.

Now years back, we had a mid 60's Baldwin M that was a marvelous piano for its size. The tone was unbelievable but when it came time for a major rework, we traded it in on the L, which was a beautiful piano with nice tone and touch but would not stay in tune. We tuned that piano every 3-4 months for years and finally gave up on it. Our technician (we had a couple look at it) said it could have been a weird combination of our building's humidity and that particular piano. We replaced with a Yamaha C6 which keeps tune very well between its 6 months tunings.

If the M in the ad is mid '80's and has been well maintained, it's a heck of a deal, don't you think? Even if it does require some rework.

The price does seem very fair for being in such good condition. I for sure would say go and take a look. For any type of good brand of pianos, thats a good price!
