I saw this ad on Craigslist the other day, in Chicago, and replied asking about the Maker. I never received a reply and it's still being listed. Can anyone tell me who may have made this? It's listed as an M. I'm just very curious.

Looks like Baldwin cabinet styling.

That is definitely a Baldwin music desk, and a 5'2" Baldwin is a model M which they refer to in the ad.

I thought it was a Baldwin too but wanted others opinions. Are they really selling for $42 G's now? Sheesh!

I'd scoop it up if I had the cash.......but I don't.

Pianobuyer shows an MSRP range of $43,800 - $44,700 and an SMP range of $30,200 - $30,800. I doubt very many people pay $42K. If I were shopping for a small grand, that one would definitely get my interest.

The area code shows to be a suburb of Atlanta. They must be listing in Big Cities on Craigslist. I'm guessing the $2500 asking price does not include Shipping. :-)

Wonder how old it is? Could need a lot of rework to be playable.

Well pianoman, its around 1986 or older. They bought it new in 87 it says. Personally I would go for a baldwin before 1980.

I'm with you, Brandon. The more recent Baldwins just aren't as good. Our church bought a brand new L that would not stay in tune and Baldwin wouldn't do anything about it. We finally sold it about 3 years ago. We still have a late '90's M that plays awful, probably needs regulating. I think we're going to sell that one too.

Now years back, we had a mid 60's Baldwin M that was a marvelous piano for its size. The tone was unbelievable but when it came time for a major rework, we traded it in on the L, which was a beautiful piano with nice tone and touch but would not stay in tune. We tuned that piano every 3-4 months for years and finally gave up on it. Our technician (we had a couple look at it) said it could have been a weird combination of our building's humidity and that particular piano. We replaced with a Yamaha C6 which keeps tune very well between its 6 months tunings.

If the M in the ad is mid '80's and has been well maintained, it's a heck of a deal, don't you think? Even if it does require some rework.

The price does seem very fair for being in such good condition. I for sure would say go and take a look. For any type of good brand of pianos, thats a good price!
