What was I thinking when I signed up for 4 Mazurkas? They were ALL much harder than they looked. I hope to send everything in next week.

Yikes, Schubertian! My hat's off to you. Are you submitting the Polonaise 40/2 also? wow

LA: "There is not what is needed" or something along those lines. (Mati, I realize that I was an idiot when I was translating it as "I do not have what I need."

I recorded it yesterday as a draft, but I cannot seem to get over the cough that has beset me for weeks, and it isn't adequate. A lot of people here have been complaining that they've been coughing for 5 weeks or more, so I may be dealing with this for a while yet, and time's a wastin'. I'm getting a bit concerned.

As far as my voice goes, nie mam czego trzeba, as yet.

Of course you wasn't an idiot, Elene - don't you even say that! You're spot on with the translation.

p.s. another progress report - my hands don't like this fun Mazurka, but I will complete it without fail, I hope.

M.

I just saw this post for the first time, and I wanted to know if I could submit something. I've just recorded three pieces that aren't on this list. Can I submit them?

Mazurka Op 24/1
Mazurka Op 24/2
Polonaise Op 26/2

Let me know,
MM

Maestro,

Greetings and a warm welcome to our little group!

Mazurka 24/1 is not on the list and was not previously performed. It is yours if you want it.

Mazurka 24/2 has already been performed, one year ago by Theowne.

Polonaise 26/2 is also yours, as it is free.

The e-cital date for the Mazurkas is 22 February 2010, and for the larger works, 1 March 2010.

Again, welcome!

I dare object to the notion that you are an idiot, Elene! Nothing of the sort.

Hallo Maestro, we would love you to perform the Polonaise but the Mazurkas have already taken place in previous ecitals in this series. We are not taking duplications.

Thanks for joining in!

I thought I posted to this thread earlier, but now I don't see it.

Any way, what I thought I said was that I'm working on Mazurka 17/1, but that I don't have it up to speed yet, so I'm not sure what will happen with it. We're at the stage of everyone in the family singing it all day, so you know I'm working on it. smile

BTW there does seem to be at least one duplicate of past recitals in the Mazurka lineup. It doesn't matter to me, but it does seem like it would be fair to everyone to be consistent.

That was a mistake though - because the Mazurkas were entered under a different name (sometimes they are given different numbering in different editions).

Thanks for your emotional support, Gerg and Mati-- I just meant I had mistranslated a verb form (3rd vs. 1st person) and had been ignorant of a common phrase ("nie ma"). I do know better now... but only a little! Off to practice!

Hi there,

a couple of weeks ago, I posted on the old thread for this about being willing to give up
68/3 - cscl
if anyone knows it already and/or wants it. It's billed as being a 4 out of 10 on the difficulty scale frequently referred to on the ABF.

I talked to my teacher about it this week and he thinks it will interfere too much with my upcoming recital piece, which I really need to devote my time to just now.

Is there anyone who wants to take it? I can try to keep working on it, but if it isn't ready, I wouldn't want to lower the quality of the e-cital with an unfinished entry.

Any takers?

To all who are reading this thread,

My apologies for not posting recently.
Although I have (especially recently) been working on the impromptu I had chosen for this recital, I will not be able to perform it by the March 1 date.
Please take me off the list, although I look forward to listening to the works that we all have practiced.

We may be thinking of a different piece. 17/4 was in the first mazurkathon and also in this upcoming one.

IIRC it was highly sought after. wink
