The Yankees suck. =p Their outfield situation should be better now that the Tigers were foolish enough to let Curtis Granderson get away.

Let's see how far we can get with the baseball before peeps yell at us..... ha

I like Granderson a lot, but unless the Yanks can "fix" something about him (which it seems they think they can but which I doubt), he can't hit lefties, and teams pitch a lot of lefties at Yankee Stadium, so it'll be 'interesting' to see what happens with that. And even besides that, I don't think they're well-set for LF or RF. I was sure they were planning some more moves.

Yes. I survey those around me and sadly, I have little in common with them. Since I do not own a tv, do not really go to see movies, and do not listen to the common trash on the radio, there is little for me to say.

Professional team sports? Sorry, but, I think I have heard those types of conversations around 3 billion times. I cannot live my life through almost worshiping those who make millions playing a game.

But, I do get to hear some good topics at the church I go to. I am blessed to be able to go.

How have I managed to miss responses about sports?!!

I actually agree with Dreamer66 about worshiping athletes. That's why I like fantasy sports . It's all about manipulating stats. I do not pay to play or gamble--I just like to see how well I do. Admittedly, I take a certain pleasure in winning against the guys in my league. Therein lays the distraction to my music.

It's a beautiful dilemma to have many interests and so little time. Weird or not, we're all blessed to have options. Many aren't so lucky.

In Australia there are two 'AFL's. The 'Australian Football League' and the 'Anti-Football League' The latter does not distract concentrating on even the most esoteric 'Urtext' Journal article! How can being a member of the latter thus be weird??

'nuff said!

You're quite right. If he has a downside it's hitting lefties. The Tigers will miss him regardless...he's a damned good player.

And a fine man from all accounts.
I'm glad NY snagged Granderson though . Now they can leave Grady Sizemore alone.

Cool! A Cleveland fan. smile
I mean, I'm not one, but it's cool that we have fans from all over.

The female Yankee fans were especially hoping we'd get Sizemore some time..... ha

Yes, he has quite a gaggle of lady fans.

I practically grew up at old Cleveland Stadium watching the Indians with my dad and brother. Baseball seems so different now , but those were great memories--some of the best of my entire life.

That's true. It's a wonderful time to be alive.

Can someone help me work out fantasy baseball? I don't get it at all and I really want to get into it.

Baseball would drive me nuts, because you'd literally have to keep up with it every, single day. I'm a fantasy football nut, though. I ended up 3 points shy of winning my league this year. Ugh! =(

I guess that was the one where the CF wall was like 480'. smile

Sounds like great memories indeed. Those are the best.

I'm a huge baseball fan and I wouldn't want to get within 100 miles of that. smile
I think it throws off how we look at the game. But I know that a lot of people LOVE it.....

It was great because you could heckle the players and they'd actually HEAR you. Before I moved out west we'd go to Opening Day every year. Had a few snow outs.

Now I just occasionally see the Indians when they come to Seattle. At least being out here I'll still be able to watch Cliff Lee a lot.

Same with me . Football is less time intensive.
Congrats on your finish. You'll be even better next year which will likely scare the others.

I lived in Milwaukee for a while and it was often like that, since the team was terrible. smile
I would sit behind the Yankee dugout, and yelling to the players during the game was just like at a local softball game or something.

Perfect! ha

What a weird last few months for him.

P.S. We were at "that game" in the World Series (game 1). Although we're Yankee fans, it was great to witness such a performance.

I have visions (nightmares?)of Billy Brewer sliding into that huge fake beer mug.
Gotta love Milwaukee.

The first game I ever went to was Opening Day vs. the Yankees. Reggie Jackson was really taking a lot of ribbing and he was so cool about it. He just kept turning around and tipping his cap.

I want to ask you about the new Yankee Stadium but I'm afraid people will be put off by baseball chatter on this thread.

Sorry folks smile
