What a great forum!

Am wondering if anyone has any experience with the PX-800? I am looking for a DP for evening practice and would like to stay in the $800-1200 range. I'm an advanced player and 99% of what I play is classical. Don't need bells and whistles ... looking for piano sound and feel. Also, would like to use the DP with a large grand for 2-piano lit on occasion.

Would appreciate any input! Thanks,
DaleC

If you are in the U.S., that $1200 sounds a bit high for a Casio. For a little bit more, in the $1400 to $1500 range, you might find you prefer a Roland FP-4 or similar models.

The PX 800 is the console version from at least a couple of years ago. You may find the newest version, the PX830, for a thousand with free shipping and a bench at a website such as musiciansbuy. I have not purchased from them so you would want to see if your local retailers or other reputable dealers might have as a good or better price.
I have the portable version of the PX800, the PX200, and I believe it could meet your practice needs. However the price is the question. I would expect (maybe mistakenly) some greater discounts with the new PX830 now available. For use with another piano, well, you may not like the sound engine.

Thanks for the input. I'll look into the Roland FP-4.

While I'm just a very very new beginner to playing the piano I can tell you that I bought a new in the box PX-800 at a Guitar Center on sale for $699 last Octoberish. The action seems on the heavy side but I don't have many things to compare it with, I take lessons on a 61 key semi weighted keyboard with a much lighter action (Yamaha PSR 213 I think.

Dale,
Not sure if you are in the states or not, but the PX-800 was on close out for $699 USD back in summer 09. The 830 was shown at NAMM here so it should ship soon. Casio did improve the action and the piano sample on the PX-830 and added an ivory texture to the keys. It has garnered quite a bit of interest.

Galaxy,
Yes, I'm in the states ... need to update my profile. Was hoping to pick up a DP soon, but sounds like patience is a good thing in this case.
