In the midst of all the online recitals for Schumann, Chopin, and Unsung Heroes, let us not forget that Beethoven's 240th birthday is in December 2010!

To celebrate this event, I propose we hold an e-cital of Beethoven's sonatas. If there is interest, I am happy to organize the event. Because his sonatas range from the fairly easy to the impossible, there should be something for everyone! To make this an inclusive event, there are no rules, except that pieces be submitted before December 15th, 2010. There can be duplicates. Single movements are acceptable.

Since I am now learning op.28 (Pastorale) I'd like set the ball rolling by putting myself down for it.

Beethoven Sonata Performers
Op. 28 (Pastorale)..........jazzyprof
Op. 78...........................Phlebas
Op. 27, no. 2, 1st Mov....Carl Mc, Inlanding
Op. 22...........................Orange Soda King
Op. 49, no. 1.................PIANO piano
Op. 10, no. 1, 2nd Mov...Inlanding
Op. 26, 2nd Mov.............Seabelle
Op. 79............................Ovaltine
Op. 14 no.2, 1st Mov......Ode2Joy

Yay, Op. 22 takes the cake. At least that's what Beethoven said. wink But he still composed 21 sonatas after that.

Maybe I can get my piano teacher to join this forum and enter with the Hammerklavier... Haha! He's played it before, and he told me the other day he's going to learn all 32! I'm so happy for him! I hope he records them all, too. His Op. 111 recording is really good.

I would like to do a medley of themes from all the famous sonatas, transposing as necessary, all to an alberti bass of even tempo wink

I would like to do op. 10 #2, entire.
Thanks for organizing this. Just this morning I was thinking there ought to be a Beethoven e-cital.

Sounds like a great idea. I am thinking of learning Op 109 for recital. So sign me up for that sonata.

I may have to back out if I can't find the time to repolish it (or a good enough mic), but you can put me down for Op. 2 #1.

pianoloverus is funny. wink

I hope all 32! That would be really neat. I'm also learning Op. 10 No. 2 (I already sort of know the first movement) BUT DON'T PUT ME DOWN FOR IT (because someone else has it obviously, haha).

Ohhhh how I'm falling in love with Beethoven more and more... I can't wait!
