Just checking in to say that I'm still plugging along! I'm due to have a baby in about 5-6 weeks, and I'm fully intending to finish up the year (even if my practicing is very brief- which it has been lately). I've decided that while I enjoyed participating this year, I don't think I'll be able to hack it next year with a new baby plus two other kiddos. But I guess I could give it a shot and see how it goes!

I may have missed this, but what is the difference between the MOYD list and the Excused MOYD list? If you travel, are you automatically forced to the excused list? Is there a means to make up days lost to travel? For example, if you normally play 2 hours a day, and play 4 hours a day for the number of days you missed, do the missed days get erased? confused
Either way count me in for the 2010 list. smile

Pure MOYD is that you played every day, no exceptions. Excused MOYD is if you miss a day due to an excused absence (travel, illness). If you travel, you're not automatically forced to the excused list if you still manage to find a piano somewhere to play every day (which is often hard to do). Sorry, no makeups allowed.

Not too many pianos in the Carribean. I can't remember ever seeing one at any of the places we've been. And as nice as cruises are, I don't think I could ever convince my sweetie to swap her favorite beach for a cruise. eek

Sadly, I must request that you take me off the 2009 list. I did great and then fell apart -- and even I don't want to read my excuses! Maybe another shot next year -- pondering that.

I have to try this for next year. With 4 kids and migraines I often fall foul of one excuse or another but having heard my DH playing cello very loudly in the evenings, my "its too loud" one has now gone and I'm going to see if this will motivate me better next year!

I surprised myself by getting to the piano every day since I joined the MYOD - I know it wasn't the full year, but it has prepared me for 2010!
So, Mark, put me down for 2010 and we'll see how it goes.(or do I need to PM you?)
Happy New Year everyone!

being sick is a valid excuse. You just go to the excused list.

I've missed a few days here and there when my tendonitis was bad so I'm out for this year. I did find it a good inspiration however and 'almost' made it barring the above and when I had to be away from home for work..

maybe 2010 I'll succeed hehe..

Awright! 365 days in the year, 10 days out of town, 355 days of piano practice. Woot!

I did it! I'm not going to sign up for 2010, at least not yet. I'll wait until the babe is a little older and I have a grasp on the whole three kids thing. This was a fun challenge and I was able to really improve my playing this year. I'm glad I participated, even if it was just scraping by toward the end!
