Yeah, I did like it. It's very nice as it is, but it also could be developed further, especially with some variety in the LH, like blocked chords instead of the arpeggios. It's a wonderful piece, but to me it's begging for another section--maybe go from D minor to D major in the next part... Or maybe tell me to shut up and write my own damn music!

Thanks Larry, I welcome your comments, and I agree there is room for further development. The only variation in this version is the B section in the relative major (F major).

Did you not hear the D major? The very last chord (LOL), I think it's called a picardy 3rd ending.

The song was written with lyrics. That's why the tittle; "Gone With the Wind" which is the hook line. And in that version there is a 4 measure bridge in the key of Bb.

This short version is the best recording I have for piano solo.

Thanks again for your evaluation.

Hi Ten,
Thanks for the encouragement!

There is somewhat a method to the madness. There is quite a bit of intuition involved in its evolution, so it is difficult to describe exactly. I will try map it out when time permits, or send me a PM directly.

Joe, true confession time, I actually sat down and wrote a D major part to add to your song, but it wasn't that great, and I thought it might be tacky to post it.

OK Glen, here's a proposition, with Joe's permission I'll post it on the condition that you write a section to follow mine.

That's lovely Larry, I'll experiment with that idea to see if there is a way to blend it with what I have.

Holiday events will delay a day or two.

Listening carefully now. This is brand new territory for me...This is fun!

yes, new for me too, but I think it's a good challenging exercise-- gets us out of our comfort zones.

I'm enjoying all the submissions this month - very creative and well played! thumb

This arrangement is a combination of the sheet music and my own fiddling around. (I have trouble with some spots, especially the octave/10ths section):

What a busy bar! smile How on earth does everyone have time in December for all this composing?

OK, here's a short little number. I play it Straight - No Improvising:
