Korg X5D is better for gigging. Easily layer 8 sounds by key/velocity. nice effects to use. E-09 is a toy.

I've used the E-09 on gigs for more than a year. It works just fine...just plug an adaptor into the headphone jack to kill the built-in speaker.

The E-09 has good piano sounds, and a few half-decent organ sounds (no cheap keyboard has great organ sounds IMO). The keyboard is light, rugged, and cheap to replace if something goes toes-up.

A lot of your personal answer will depend on the type of keyboard you play--and I should tell you that I also use an 88 key Yamaha s-80 board on jobs when I think I will be doing a lot of solos or piano-only back-up.

But it is nice to be spared humping around the heavy s-80 to jobs, especially when the weather is bad. The E-09 can handle many of my jobs--and I play out for a living.
