Hi. I am buying a second hand Yamaha CVP-301 which I need to pick up. Can anyone tell me if Yamaha Clavinovas dismantle easily or at all? The woman selling to me doesn't know and it's 4 hours away from where I live. Thanks in advance. Ellen2852 smile

Specs & dimensions for this model are at CVP-301

Ideally you would arrive to pick up the piano with another able bodied person and a vehicle that you can just put it in assembled - mini van, pick up will do fine. The weight is 149 lbs. so 2 men can easily carry it out. If that's too heavy you can take the main unit off the stand by removing the 4 phillips head screws that hold it on.

If you don't have a vehicle able to accommodate the piano assembled consider borrowing one from someone. You can also dissassemble it completely - be sure that your vehicle can accomodate the width of the main keyboard part as that cannot be taken apart width is 54-5/16". Measure the vehicle you're taking to pick it up to make sure you have 54-5/16". Typically it will fit laying across the back seat of a car but you do need to measure it ahead of time to make sure. A phillips screwdriver is all you'll need. The top keyboard part is held to the stand with 4 phillips screws on each side. If you need to take the stand apart further you can.

Bring a half dozen blankets or moving pads to wrap the various parts. Mark each screw where it came out of, label them and put them in an envelope so you know which screw goes where.

Hi Glenn

Thank you so much for your information. It's really helpful. I am trying to organise a pick up so I can transport it fully assembled but it's good to know that I have an alternative.

Thank you once again.

Regards

You can download the owners manual. Inside are instructions for how to assemble a new CLP. Apearently they are shipped disasembled from the factory.

All Yamahas are basically the same, four screws connect the piano to the stand and then the stand comes apart into two upright supports and the cross piece.

Ellen,

In some midsize cars the arm rests in the back seat might get in the way (you wouldn't be able to fully shut the door with the piano on the back seat). If that is the case, you might be able to find something to put on the seat such that the keyboard part of the electric piano would sit higher than the arm rests (would give a few extra inches of width). The pedestal portion of the electric piano can be turned upside down & will then easily fit in the back seat area.

You may also find it useful to bring a few pillows along to help pack it in.

Edited to add: These are easy to dismantle. Once the screws are removed, the keyboard unit should easily slide out of 2 mechanical slots. Be sure to disconnect the cable from the pedals to the keyboard. A flashlight will make that easy to find.
