Can anyone suggest why my pedal on my CVP9 (old old Clavinova), which used to work inconsistently, now doesn't work at all since I moved the Clav.
Thanks!

I've had a similar problem on my 10-year old Kawai Ca550. The Sustain pedal stopped working consistently, so I took a look at the mechanism. The Sustain pedal was a little bent compared to the other pedals, so I tried to carefully unbent it a little bit, I cleaned anything I could find near those pedals (I unsrewed and opened the little box with the pedals) and I made sure the large screw right under the pedals which is supposed to make the piano stand more firmly on the ground, was set properly. Now it works better (though there are still some hickups sometimes...)

On most, the pedal is just a simple contact switch. You will have to take it apart and look. Likely the range of motion has changed so the contacts are not getting closed.

The good news is new third party pedals cost only about $25.

I have one of these:
