I recently bought a Casio PX130 from Guitar Center.

Unwrapping the box at home, I found that the piano inside wasnt wrapped in the platic sheet, the sheet stand was not in its bubble wrap and the pedal was missing. I called up guitar center and they assured me that I could come in for a replacement pedal anytime - or replace the piano, so I stopped by and picked up a pedal (which wasnt a casio branded one) since the piano itself sounded fine.

When the pedal is depressed the sound from the key presses get cut off abruptly. when the pedal is not depressed the sound from the piano sustains for a while. Is this the expected behavior (I thought it should be the opposite)?

I have till end of Dec to return this unit and get a factory sealed one...

Just change the polarity switch on your sustain pedal.
