Hi,

Need your suggestions please!

I will get the professional mover to move my Yamaha G2 to new home. For some renovation works, I need to store the piano in one of the rooms for about 1 month. I will take action & fallboard out before moving.
Is it ok to store the piano on its flat side for 1 month? Or should I lay the piano on the floor flat without legs? The reason is I need to move back to living room after 1 month. I do not want to put back the legs and take it out again so often.

Thanks for your valuable input.

You leave it on the skid board on it's side.
To lay it on the floor flat is crazy! To get it back up would be murder. You probably would need at least 4 guys in that you have no leverage to lift it in that position.

No harm on being on its side for a month. I recommend leaving the action where it is; the key stop rail is in place to hold the keys when it's being shipped. There's a lot more risk to the action in removing it, storing it separately, and replacing it.

The legs and lyre are designed to be removed and replaced many times.

Make sure the piano is covered in blankets and shrink wrapped well in plastic to keep the dust from renovation out.
