first of all, nice forum. but you already knew that!
i'm new here, and new on the piano.
i started playing 6 months ago and with som help from a brief keyboard past, i manage to practise comptine d'un autre ete form yann tiersen and of course beethovens fur elise now.
i was wondering if someone has a list of nice piano pieces i could listen to and practice.
i'm finding it hard to just google on "nice piano piece"...
and of couse, any tips or tricks that will help me love the instrument even more are very welcome!
thanks

Welcome to the forum er0ck. Depending on how difficult it was to put the two pieces you listed together, there is a lot of great piano repertoire in that range.

For me, I might suggest looking at one of the easier Chopin Waltzes or Nocturnes which are perennial favorites around here. Maybe one of the easier Songs without Words from Mendelssohn (op. 19, no. 2 or 4, or 6, op. 30 no. 3 or 6) would also be a good place.

It is hard to suggest too much without knowing what style(s) you prefer. Classical, Romantic, Baroque, Modern. You could also jump into the Clair de lune on-line lessons thread. That's a bit more to tackle, but it gives you a great resource for some tips regarding that piece. You could also try checking out the Einaudi thread for some new age stuff.

Welcome to the forum, er0ck. smile If you like Tiersen, I would second the suggestion that you check out Ludovico Einaudi's music. There's quite a loyal fan base here on the forum. Tiersen has other many nice pieces, too; I like a lot from his "Goodbye, Lenin!" soundtrack and "Tabarly."

Happy belated birthday, er0ck! Nightbook is quite beautiful, albeit with a darker, edgier tone than many of his earlier albums.

Mozart - Rondo Alla Turca is a nice piece and is not that difficult. It took me about six weeks to learn it and I've been playing for ten months now.

Chopin's Nocturne in E flat Major is very beautiful and not too technically challenging.

It is better to do without thinking than to think without doing; for if you wait long enough, you'll just die.
