Hey Leon.. I did "Its a Small World" for the last recital. Its a fun song. But I think I drove my poor wife crazy. I have the tendency to whistle the songs I am working on, so she finally told me "Please don't whistle that!"...

Good Idea about reviewing the last few songs. I am about finished with book one, but I am thinking of going through the book one last time and recording all of the songs. Lets see if I have the patience to do that.

I'm having so much trouble just with the last 4 measures, that I think it's time to move on. I'll revisit it each time I practice and hopefully the end will finally get up to speed.

You guys are doing so good, I hope when you move to book 2 you still stick around here to offer advice and suggestions.

I managed to nail Blow the Man Down at my lesson today, so its officially on to Lone Star Waltz. Like others mentioned, I keep about 5 back songs paper clipped and include them in my daily practice, then sometimes just for fun I go back furhter than those just to see how simple they have become.

BarbVA. Congrats on BTMD.. Thats a major accomplishment. The Lone Star waltz seemed to be alot easier that BTMD. Its fun to go back and see how much improvement you have made. Before I move on to book two I am going to review the whole book one, see if I can remember how to play some of the earlier songs.

Just got through, "The Marines' Hymn" which means I "get to" move on to "Tomorrow" from the greatest hits book. I kind of dread starting the songs in this book since they take so much more time than those from the lesson book (days compared to hours) but I guess the more you play, the better you get, right?

Now I just have to figure out how to record what I play. I'm an idiot when it comes to technical stuff.

It's a digital piano. Casio CDP 100 to be exact.

I thought it was about time I posted some of my playing!

Here's the first blues from Tim Richards book "Improvising Blues Piano" and Scarborough Fair.

Sorry Leon, I afraid I am completly illiterate when it comes to the electronic keyboard. I bet you you could find someone who could help you on the recital thread.

BazC, I couldn't get your songs to play, but its probably just my computer (I was getting some kind of Quicktime error).

How about putting your site link in your signature line. I often go and visit people's sites (like Bluekeys) when there is not much new stuff to read on the board, that way I won't forget to try and visit occasionally.

Hmm sorry you couldn't get them to play, both work OK for me. I have no idea how to troubleshoot the problem either. Are you seeing the quicktime controls? There's no link as such, you just click on the play button.

Yes I might add a link in my signature, thanks for the suggestion!

Ahhh yes, I was not getting the usual arrow- when hovered over the play button. But it is working.
Good job, thanks for the post thumb

Well, I more or less got through Little Brown Jug and now on the mexican hand clapping song. It's called Chiapenacas or something like that. Except for the initial hand clapping part (the first two lines) which I can do reasonably well, the left hand/right hand what/when part is tough, but if I could do Jug, I guess I'll get it.

The second part of the beginning which is in the second line doesn't seem like it should be there. It seems to me to sound like the finale, yet the whole next page follows it. Anybody understand what's going on?

Hi everyone! I just received my AIO trio today and can't wait to get started. I've wanted to play piano since I was very small and I'm now 52. About 15 years ago I took lessons for a little over one year until I got carpal tunnel and had to stop. Then a few years ago I bought a pretty nice keyboard and decided to start up again and the keyboard fried. Just bought a new DP and I've been playing around with it a bit and I've actually remembered quite a bit, so it'll be interesting to see how long it takes me to get through book 1.

I'll check in regularly with my progress...wish me luck!

Hi, Guinnie! Good luck! :-) Since you've taken lessons before, AIO should be a good review for you. But if you have any trouble with some of the later pieces, there's always someone here to help with the rough spots.

dukeofhesse... Chiapanecas has two parts. The first part (the hand clapping part) has two endings. Play the first ending then repeat then play the second ending. Then go on to the next part (on the next page)which is kind of like a waltz, this part also has two endings. Here is a video of Pianonoob playing the song.

Good luck.
