Hello all -

I have a Kawai CA-91 and I run synthogy ivory on my MacBook pro. I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good computer speaker set that will sound good for home playing when using ivory.

Thanks!

Have you considered running the output from your MacBook back into the CA91, through the Line In connectors?

This would almost certainly provide the most elegant solution, and should sound pretty spectacular too, utilising the instrument's soundboard speaker system.

Cheers,
James

James,

I didnt know that could be done. That would be a great option and I cant wait to give it a try. How do you go about doing this?

Look at the back of your piano. Basically, all you have to do is plug one cable from your MacBook’s Line Out to CA91’s Line In. I guess it’s a stereo phone plug, 6.25mm at one side of the cable (CA91), 3.5mm at the other (MacBook). Not sure...

rbroadford, yes Nicola is correct.

Here is the connectors illustration from page pp.78 of the CA91/CA71/CA51 owner's manual:

[Linked Image]

You simply need to connect the audio output from your MacBook Pro (3.5 mm stereo) to the separate line-in inputs on the back of your CA91 (6.25mm left and right).

There is also a level adjustment knob beside the input jacks, allowing the input volume to be adjusted. My recommendation would be to maximise the volume of your Mac, then use the CA91's input level adjustment to find a suitable level.

I expect you will also need to disable the CA91's internal sound by setting the MIDI local control to 'OFF' - please refer to page pp.72 of the owner's manual for more detailed instructions.

I hope this helps.

Cheers,
James
