i've done some searching around on the web, and $1750 for a baldwin/wurlitzer C143 baby grand seems like an excellent deal. obviously i should get it checked out by a technician, but any other gotchas i should be concerned about?

thanks,
Lee

I'm giving this a bump, as I'm interested in anything anyone might have to say as well.

I don't know (or, at least, don't remember) the details about the Wurlitzers and Chickerings made by Baldwin or if they have any connection with the "Classic Grand" that didn't have a good reputation.

The price seems inexplicably low for an instrument that's less than 20 years old.

Steven

I wouldn't say "inexplicably low"

It's the 4'7" grand made by Samick.

The next best (or worst) thing to a LaPetite by Kimball.

In my opinion, priced about right.

Thanks,

Nick

I worked for Baldwin and saw lots of these pianos. The main problem they had was with the action centers. It wasn't on every piano, not even most. A few. But the one's which developed this problem tended to be repeat offenders. (Pardon the pun) They would develop tight action centers, and then the keys would stick. It would start out with one or two, we would fix those, then it would be a few more, then a few more. After a few service calls, we would take the action to the shop and just repin the whole thing.

If it hasn't developed symptoms by now, you are probably okay.
