I'm curious why you listed the Waldstein near the most difficult? Challenging as it is, Op 57, 109, 110, all more difficult in my opinion.

On another thread you disagreed so strongly with my and Kreisler's suggestions about which Beethoven Sonata another poster should play next, and yet you've only played some of the easier Sonatas yourself?

Your difficulty list isn't based on personal experience(which would not be the same for everyone anyway) but mostly on what some other poster(s) said.

I would put Op. 90 lower on the list. It would make more sense to just put the Sonatas in three or four groups of difficulty than such a specific order.

For starters, I would put Op. 13 lower on the list and Op. 54 considerably higher. But I agree it would be better to put the sonatas in general groups of difficulty. As I have previously posted, Charles Rosen has written that he thinks the Appasionata as difficult as the Op. 106.

I just disagreed, there was nothing 'so strongly' about. The poster of that thread seemed to be in about the same level as me (he completed the Pathetique), so I just recommended him what I have planned for myself as next. You never told me what you play, and you have an empty profile? Also in that same thread I said I was open to suggestions, what more can a man do? This also isn't very much helping. If you would say place them in 4 groups, then by all means give me a hint on which sonata's should go in which groups. I placed the Waldstein much near the end because of the coda in the last movement.

I don't under stand why op. 110 is consistently rated among the most difficult. We are just talking about technical difficulty, right? I learned it long ago and found it easier than op. 22 or op 78. Wth my limited technique I wasn't able to bring it to a professional standard, but neither was it a disaster. What parts are considered especially challenging?

I would definitely say that last part with the Fuge.

Thanks for that list, I placed op79 now also on place five, the rest of the lists are identical (except for 27/1, but that just differs 1 spot, so we pretty much agree on that).
