Hi Everyone,

I've been trying to purchase a cushion for my piano bench and would love to know if 1" thickness is about all that I'm going to find. One inch sure doesn't sound like much padding. Does anyone know of anything that is offered in a better thickness?

Thanks, Sipry

It doesn't seem to me that 1" would be that thick of a cushion. If it's that limited, I'd see if I couldn't find a different cushion somewhere else (perhaps for a small window seat?) or I might consider making my own (how handy are you with a sewing machine?)BTW...I thought you were going to take a break and give your wrist a rest. Couldn't stand it, huh? The piano's beckoning to you is just too great? (LOL!) I'm jealous. I can't wait to find mine and get it home!

Hi i have recently found these wonderful cushions at WalMart! they are made of memory foam. it feels like you dont "hit bottom" at all. they are more square that a usual piano bench pad. I put mine on top of my thin piano bench cover. good luck! PS they have 2 thicknesses. the rounder ones are not as thick.

I had to laugh when I read Shannon's question regarding how handy I might be with a sewing machine.....I couldn't sew a cushion if my life depended upon it! I could knit one though. My piano is beckoning to me but I'm holding off - really - I haven't played since the weekend! It's killing me to have to keep ignoring it.

Gwyn - were the WalMart cushions over in the fabric/sewing department or household items? I'm going to go check them out. The memory foam sounds great - my tailbone will thank me!

If you're skinny and all bones, yes, then you need a cushion. A normally cushioned body won't really need it, it is just something one is used to, IMHO.

I am rather skinny (not boney, though) and would prefer to sit just on plain wood, but I want a breathing surface to sit on. I don't like my cushioned artist bench because it is artificial leather which doesn't breathe. I'm still trying to find the perfect material--giving me a solid base without having me float or bounce around, but also letting some air under my butt so it can breathe (I mean the skin, not what you think wink )

Any suggestions I should know about?

Sipry, The memory foam cushions are in the household dept. near the other chair cushions. they are in fact chair cushions so you could ask for them as such. the colors are sage green, a nice rusty orange, brown. no buttons sewn on them or anything. Gwyn
