Hi Everyone,
I am going to be debuting/premiering [ not sure which is correct] a Mason-Hamlin CC. I think I have only played one Mason-Hamlin in my life and wondered what you like about these pianos.

Thanks for your input,
rada

Is it an older CC or a newer CC?

If it is rebuilt beautifully, and wonderfully prepped, it will be an indescribably amazing piano. Massive sound, and a combination of warmth and clarity that you wont hear on any other piano.
If it was not rebuilt well, who knows.
It is a very rare piano, and I hope you have a great experience with it. We are about to complete the same piano from 1906, and I have the highest expectations for it.

What is the asking price? Could that give an indication of what one might expect?

I have a 1961 CC2 that I love. There is nothing that sounds this way that I have played. I need to rebuild it, but haven't yet scared up the time. It weighs more than any other 9' that I am familiar with. I assume that there is a correlation between the massivity and the sound which is immense.

Is it a CC2 or a CC1 or just a CC?

I have a rebuilt CC2. It is 9 feet long. It's a later design.

I understand that the other two models are 9'4". I have a hunch yours is one of the 9'4" models, just going by the date. (I'd have to check my notes to find when the CC2's began being made.)

Also check the real estate in the highest treble. The 9'4" pianos had huge cheek blocks, I think. Quite wide as well as long.

This particular piano is a CC....I have seen someone playing it on you-tube. It has already been purchased. Not sure what was paid for it but on the video I think I recall seeing 70K. I was told it was 9'4". I'll let you know what I think. The program is Oct. 23,2009. I like pianos that have full rich sounds so am very curious how a re-built will feel an sound. Maybe I can even post a photo later.
