Hi everyone,

I would like to buy a new digital piano. I really like the P155 sound and touch.

Ive played it a few times at the music shop. However i have fallen in love with the FP4 piano and strings sound. I havnt been able to demo the fp4 because im currently living in Hong Kong.

Do i take the risk and just buy the fP4 or because i have played the P155 should i stick with that. I know its a really stupid question and i need to make my own decsion...but i dont know what to do.

The strings and piano on the FP4 sound soo sweet!! But i havent played on it..

check it

Of those two keyboards I preferred the FP4. But the action on the P155 is nice too.

Most importantly I think you need to try the FP4 and see which one feels & sounds best for you. I wouldn't recommend buying it before you try it. Don't they have the FP4 in Hong Kong?

I compared FP4 but then decided on P-155. I think it is mainly personal. Yamaha's touch is a little heavier than FP4, but it is one's own preference.

I'd really try to play an FP4 before you buy one. The touch is very light, "shallow" and unusual. The FP4 is popular because the action is very expressive and lets you play very fast (and it sounds great, especially for Jazz). But it's very different from most acoustics that I've played and some people don't like the unusual feel.

By contrast, the P155 is a very ordinary-feeling DP with a light but unexceptional action and a typical bright, clear Yamaha sound. That having been said, it's probably the best all-around model in it's category and is constantly recommended to people here.

The FP4 *is* a great DP, so buying one isn't a mistake. But you might be surprised when you fianlly play it, as it may not have the touch you'd expect.

i did lots of research before deciding on the fp4, but after it was all setup and ready to play, i noticed this obnoxious continuous humming sound from the speakers once the unit is turned on. it's so loud that you can hear it even while you're playing with maximum volume. i thought that perhaps my unit was defective, but when i went to sam ash to check out the fp7, there was also an fp4 nearby that suffered from the same problem. a lot of people here seem to really like the fp4, so you might want to find a unit to see if the humming is bothersome. keep in mind that the humming may sound even louder in your home, since the environment will be much quieter than in a music store.

needless to say, i returned it and purchased an fp7 instead smile
