Hello Everyone,
As i announced the other day i took possession of a Steingraeber 205K (Polished ebony with Burl Amboyna)to keep my Feurich F227 company. I am so exicited and i love them both!
I moved the Steingraeber into the room the Feurich was orginally sitting for it lent it's self to this room better. Then i moved the Feurich to a second music room in the front of the house. I wish i could have put them in the same room side by side, but there was just not enough room.
I fell in love with the Burl Amboyna on the Steingraeber. It is a perfect combination with the polished black ebony. I had not heard of Burl Amboyna before so i did some research on the internet.
Most all of the Burl Amboyna was wiped out during the Tsunamis. Brian Gatchell at Atlantic Music said he called Udo Steingraeber to see if he had any of this wood left. U

do said he had a small amount. So Brian ordered this piano that i bought with the Burl Amboyna.
According to the internet,Burl Amboyna is the rarest and most expensive wood in the world. So i am very happy to have this wood as it is very rare. The pictures do not do it justice.I wish you all could see it in person. Because of lighting and glare it is distorted a little in the pictures. In some of the pictures, pay no attention to the shades pulled down to try and get better pictures. These shades in no way are used for decortative purposes.Just to block out the morning sun that is so hot here in Florida.
If you scroll down all the way you will see my Feurich in the room that my Steingraeber sits in now.
Without further ado just click on the flickr link that is located below after my signature.

Holy cow that is AWESOME. Terry you do not mess around, sir! Congratulations and thanks for posting the pictures. It was worth the wait!

(For the love of all that is good, go easy on the winter fires in that fireplace, or move the beauty a bit further away!)

Charles ,Trust me that fire place will not be used. For the love of all that is good, this is Florida and it's not needed. The fire place will be used for decorative purposes only! I say this now but if it gets really cold this winter and i need some wood i just might have to use one of those round legs off the Steingraeber. I hear Steingraber seasons their wood to perfection,so it should make one heck of a fire. Who knows what one might do when it comes to survival!
Thanks for the congratulations and i am glad you like it.

Congrats Terry.
Looks amazing.
How does it sound in that space? I would imagine it sounds pretty lively.

That piano is absolutely breath-taking. It looks like it was built about 200 years ago. I had no idea you could buy a new piano with that level of wood craftmanship.

Terry, that wood is just gorgeous. And I know you're also a collector of native American art and have a special appreciation for artistic creations of many kinds. However, if it had been me, I'd have probably gone for the model 232 in standard black instead of paying for the customization on the smaller model. Somehow, I feel that this wood would be too much in my face if I played it many hours a day. But who knows, maybe one day I'll fall in love with a gorgeous veneer that I cannot say no to (and can afford, ha!). Enjoy the ownership of one of the very best instruments on this planet!

Grandpianoman,
When i get a chance i plan to do a recording so you will be able to hear it. In my opinion it's tone, dynamic range and sustain is like no other piano i have heard. It's such a joy to play. All day long i have spent the day going back and forth from the Feurich to the Steingraeber. What a great day. It doesn't get much better.

Seiler Fan,
I had a chance to play the 232 and it was georgeous. However I found the mid section and treble on this model to sound crystal clear. It was more to my liking.Plus the size lends itself to the room better. The front room where the Feurich now sits is much larger for a piano of it's size. To me i have never seen burl wood as beautiful as this Amboyna. This also helped to make the piano more interesting to purchase. To me it was a no brainer.

Terry
