Hi Rocket88!

Well, since I took that pic of me on the piano I’ve lost about 20 pounds. Now I’m almost as good looking as you! grin

If I could just play the piano as good as you I’d really be ready for show business!

Take care!

Rick

P.S. Hi Dan. Believe it or not, there is a lighter, brighter side to Piano World! grin

Dan,

I told you this was better than the Dampp Chaser thread.

Mr. Wilson,

I was the first to respond to your delayed response to Onestone. Yes, I was offended by your use of the term "goat humper." This is not a men's locker room, it is a public forum.

I do not accept your apology for one simple reason, i.e., your inclusion of "lol!" which totally negates any sincerity on your part.

You seem to treat your communications with others as a big joke. I am also totally mystified as to how dietary supplements enter into this discussion at all? Do your pianos also come with a year's supply of bran? Of what use is the reference?

It is not only my opinion, but also expressed by others, that sincerity is not being conveyed with your responses. That, in and of itself, would trigger caution in business/purchasing dealings with you.

You were livid with Onestone's response to the original question of this thread. I was not, however. He was responding to the OP about your Craigslist ad and stated his opinion based on his knowledge of your business practices. Whether his statements were factual or not, we might never know. He did, however, cite specific practices which are used to skirt the Craigslist requirement of no multiple or repetitive postings.

You have asked for documentation of his allegations. By the time you responded, those postings would have long expired from Craigslist.

Now, I have a question for you. It is from your ad as quoted by Madison, the OP. Please explain these sentences as I cannot fully understand their true intention:

Quote
Retails new for over $4500. SAVE HUGE!!!

Are you stating that it is priced well below the MSRP or are you stating that the piano is used? That makes a "HUGE" difference. In reference to the piano being marketed, the sentence is totally ambiguous.

For some of us, it does seem "too good to be true."

Guilty until proven innocent is not the case in this situation. I think that Justice Stewart's statement of "I know it when I see it" is more applicable.

Wow. So the guys apologizes ( which btw he didn't owe anyone. This *is* a public forum not the 'Marty in Minnesota Socialist Republic Court" so if you don't like someone's terminology too bad. Start your own forum and make your own rules) and it's *still* not good enough. This reaffirms what I said earlier that there is such a sense of entitlement in North American culture no wonder half the world has such disdain for the west. We can all be such a big bunch of spoiled princesses sometimes. (eyes rolling half way to the back of my head)

AJF,

I did not respond to you, I responded to Mr. Wilson. It is now you who are using insulting comments. I have not. Do you want me to accuse you of trying to form the "World Order of AJF?" To get totally crass, are you a "goat humper?"

Since this thread is in the dregs, I will speak my mind.

AJF - I really don't care where your eyes are roving. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. That pasture has goats.

Dude, do what you gotta do.

Dear Marty in Minnesota,

I had thought perhaps that this thread might have died. Unfortunately not.

Marty, you've got to get a life. If that's not possible, perhaps, as AJF suggested, you can start a piano forum that adheres to your very PC rules of order (and apologies).

Best regards,

Wow indeed, AJF.

Having joined PW only recently, and observing this thread (and several others) from across the Atlantic, I think I'm really lucky to have received one or two helpful answers to my amateur questions.

I'm not sure how long I'll stay in this forum, though - there seems to be an inordinate amount of judgemental "policing".

Notwithstanding that a few people have welcomed and helped me in a really friendly way, it's quite an intimidating environment to a newcomer - feels like a mine-field, actually, and not very welcoming!

Don't get me wrong: I also appreciate good manners, basic etiquette and a pleasant forum atmosphere - but is overly strict control really the way to build a pleasant vibe? To build on Dan's imagery, which I found humorous (and for my part, quite appropriate) : we all know that a total lack of fibre leads to excessive retention.

I think some members of this forum could do well to "loosen up" - in a manner of speaking.

I'm a member of altogether four German forums, amongst them a piano forum and an oldtimers' forum, and (much to the spite of Hollywood's typical portrayal of Germans) they actually seem a whole lot more laid back than posters from the (Brave) New World.

Just my two cents accross the sea...

Regards,
Mark

Welcome, Mark from Pretoria,

We are steadily being "Europeanized." Actually we're going to be more Europe than Europe with folks like "Marty from Minnesota" (and a lot of other folks like Marty from across the country) facilitating the transition.

However, the biggest danger is if folks just give in and don't face up to the regimentalization for what it is.

So for all our benefit, don't throw in the towel yet.

Best regards,

From Marty in Minnesota

To all of you who keep referring to me:

Read what I actually said, rather than what you think I said.

I responded to a particular person. An apology which ends with "lol" negates the apology. In that case, it is sent as nothing more than an insincere joke.

I am not setting up any kind of World Order. I do believe, however, that reading, writing, and comprehending what is written, to be paramount to civilization and to civilized behavior.

Though I find all of the responses to my postings to be interesting and amusing, I would enjoy a response from Mr. Wilson.

To the rest of you, your opinions and comments about me are baseless. Idle conjecture is not fact and I don't require any recommendations about "getting a life."

I have one, thank you very much. I choose to practice it with love and dedication to my family, relying on my ethics, and doing the best with my profession.

And yes, I am also able to read, write, and comprehend words spoken and unspoken.

Dude. Know when to give up. Now you're just arrogantly patronizing us all by telling us that we don't know how to read. Funny, I didn't realize there was only ONE way to interpret your posts. So WE should stop THINKING it means one thing and what? Maybe get inside your head so we stop ignorantly misinterpretting you? You keep mentioning that your post were addressed at one person, Mr. Wilson. NO. Your posts were addressed to the forum. If you want to talk only to one person there's this feature called Private messaging.

AJF,

Since Mr. Wilson responded publicly, so did I. However, I addressed many of my responses directly to him. If he had sent a PM, I would have replied with a PM.

If I have not been clear with the statements in my postings, please be specific about what you don't understand. You are welcome to do it by PM or in this thread. There is no need to "get inside your (my) head" as I speak my mind and opinions directly.

Ambiguity is something of which I am not guilty. I kindly ask that you provide examples of what you didn't understand or how it could be misinterpreted or misconstrued.
