01 dannylux (Mel) - Bortkiewicz Prelude in F# Major Op.33 No.7, Sergei BortkiewiczBeautiful piece, Mel. Once again you have found a gorgeous lesser known piece to share with the group and played it perfectly. Great job! 02 Mr. Super-Hunky - London Blue, David LanzA beautiful piece well played on a beautiful piano. 03 EJR (Elwyn) - Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme (Awake, the Voice commands) BWV 645, Bach-BusoniThis is one pf Bach's most beautiful organ pieces. I enjoyed listening. You are much too hard on yourself, Elwyn. Very enjoyable performance! 04 mahlzeit - Recital 15, meMe is an unknown composer (at least to me), but this is a very nice piece. You played it beautifully. 05 Sam Smith - Traummerei, SchumannBeautiful job, Sam. It would have taken me forever and a few days to memorize it. I cannot memorize to save my life. 06 TrueBeginner - Solitude, SelfAnother new composer (is that Eugene Self? ). Only kidding, of course. Another nice composition. Very relaxing and peaceful. Nice job! 07 Peyton - From Foreign Lands and People, SchumannFabulous job on this beautiful little piece! I love the camera angle, by the way. This is my favorite thus far. 08 DragonPianoPlayer - Serenade, Wm. GillockI've not heard this piece before. It is gorgeous. Beautiful! 09 HomeInMyShoes - Songs Without Words, Op. 19, No. 6 (Venetian Boat Song), MendelssohnI agree; this is a wonderful little piece. You played it with emotion. I can feel your love of the piece in your performance. Wonderful job! 10 pianahman (Richard) - Sinfonia No. 11 in G minor (BWV 797), BachWonderful job! I love it. More to come . . .

Oh man, TX-Dennis beats me and I was even cheating and listening early!!! What a terrific recital. While I didn't cheat enough to listen to them all, I've heard enough to know there is some wonderful music in this recital. Here's my first batch of comments: 01 – Dannylux: What a beautifully lush, romantic piece! Sounds pretty tough, too, with all those chords in the right hand. 02 – Super-hunky: I think this is one of David Lanz’s prettiest melodies. And while I sort of miss hearing one of your famous improvisations, you get props for stretching out of your comfort zone and venturing into the sight-reading realm. Your BB sounds gorgeous, too. 03 – EJR: Maybe I’m biased, but I like this Bach Busoni transcription better than the organ version. I wish all MY “works in progress†sounded this polished! 04 – Mahlzeit: You gotta start coming up with some better names for your recital pieces. Your piece was similar in spirit to the David Lanz piece that super-hunky played. Very pretty! 05 – Sam Smith: Excellent job on an all-time favorite classical piece. I know what you mean about finding it hard to memorize when composers repeat basic melodies with subtle variations. 06 – TrueBeginner: What a lovely, poignant composition. I hope you were able to play it for your dad. 07 – Peyton: Schumann is a composer I feel I should get to know better, as I’ve enjoyed every Schumann piece I’ve heard in these recitals. You give this one a nice, jaunty air. 08 – DragonPianoPlayer: Gillock is a composer I had never heard of until the forum. This is a very pretty, slow piece that reminds me a lot of Satie. Nicely played with lots of expression. 09 – HomeInMyShoes: You do an excellent job of voicing the melody, and I wouldn’t have known you missed some notes if you hadn’t said something about it. 10 – Pianahman: I know I say this every recital, but it’s still true: I’m in awe of people who can play Bach—all those nonstop notes in both hands. Good job! 11 – Riddler: Every time I hear one of your pieces, I swear I’m going to break down and buy Band in a Box. What a polished performance and treat you’ve given us! 12 – TX-Dennis: Beautiful rendition of a beautiful song, one of my all-time favorite lullabies. This one is going on my “must buy sheet music†list. 13 – Schubertian: Oh, I’m glad you used the thunderstorm version! Very fitting. Excellent rendition of an intimidating piece. 14 – Mati: I love anime music, and this is a wonderful composition. And I am extremely jealous that you were able to get such a good recording in a single take!! 15 – Ken S.: That is a galloping piece indeed! It sounds like a heck of a lot of fun to play, too.

Here's my first batch of comments...
01. dannylux / Mel - Bortkiewicz Prelude in F# Major Op.33 No.7 Very well played, beautiful expression.
02. Mr Super-hunky - London Blue Wow -- this is really nice. The emotion comes through as does your "personal touch." Very nicely done!
03. EJR (Elwyn) - Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme (Awake, the Voice commands) BWV 645 Good job! This, like most Bach pieces, is a real challenge and you handled it well. The only technical suggestion I would make is to lighten up on the left hand -- the bass is way to domineering.
04. mahlzeit - Recital 15 Hmmm...interesting sound after blending the different voices. Nice composition that is well played.
05. Sam Smith - Traumerei Excellent effort on a piece that's much more difficult than it first appears.
06. TrueBeginner - Solitude Well titled composition. There is certainly a sense of solitariness in this piece. I felt like I should be sitting in a cabin on a rainy night with a small fire going.
07. Peyton - From Foreign Lands and People Excellent! This is well played and you bring out so many of the subtle nuances in the music.
08. DragonPianoPlayer - Serenade What a nice, quite piece. Well played, very relaxing to listen to.
09. HomeInMyShoes - Songs Without Words, Op. 19, No. 6 (Venetian Boat Song) Very nicely done -- good job with keeping the left hand so nicely even and not allowing it to overpower the right.
10. pianahman / Richard - Sinfonia No. 11 in G minor (BWV 797) Nice touch good job in bringing out the parts. Each voice spoke clearly.
That's it for the first batch. Off to bed and then listen to more in the morning.

11 Riddler (Ed) - Take Five, Paul DesmondI've always enjoyed this piece. You did a great job with it. As an aside, wasn't there an old television show that used the main theme of this piece as its theme song? I seem to recall that, but I cannot remember the show. 12 TX-Dennis - Baby Mine, Washington/ChurchillBeautiful piece. Playing could be better. 13 Schubertian - 'Raindrop' Prelude (Op 28 #15), ChopinI love the background sound of the thunderstorm in progress. Nice touch. Your performance is quite wonderful. I cannot imagine it played much better. Did you record with the windows open? The rain sounds pretty loud. 14 Mateusz 'Mati' Papiernik - Dear You, DaiAnother beautiful (and unknown to me) animé piece. Very enjoyable and well played! 15 Ken. - Cavalry Gallop, Op. 27, No. 29, KabalevskyNice! I enjoyed listening. Great jop, Ken. 16 Ten Left Thumbs - Joe's Jump, Mark HarrisonWow! That's a fun little piece! Very sweet! I want to listen to this over and over. That's entertainment! 17 Euphonatrix - 2-part invention #14 in Bb Major, BachYour wish has come true; I did enjoy! ;)Wonderful job! 18 Serge88 -Don't Know Why, JonesThis is my favorite Norah Jones piece. Why hasn't she done anything lately? Fun performance. It's not fair, though. You had help from your dog. 19 AnthonyB - La Nascita Delle Cose Segrete, Ludovico EinaudiNice job. You look very relaxed behind the keyboard. This is a beautiful piece, and you "nailed" it. 20 z32 / Ben - Kiss the Rain, YirumaA very polished and lush sounding performance. Wonderful job, Ben. Great job!

Just a few before I turn it in for the night.
01 – Dannylux: There is always pressure on the first spot to get the recital off to a good start. You did a great job. I am not familiar with the piece- but I am now. Thank you!
02 – Super-hunky: This is a beautiful piece. Very well played and paced. I enjoyed this. BTW - nice sustain.
03 – EJR: Sounds like good progress to me.
04 – Mahlzeit: Reminds me of fall...leaves blowing in a stiff breeze. Change will be here soon.
More later

Ah, nice to listen in breaks between reviewing the stuff for the dance tomorrow eve - 55. kokomo61 - Blues in Three Definitely on your way to nice jazz. I think the rhythm got lost once, but I liked it from the very start. Way to go. (edited from "to to" :\) 53. Mark... - Song Without Words Didn't you at one time set a deadline for deciding whether you would continue with piano? And hasn't it come and gone? Good thing - this was a very nice piece, with very nice expression. 51. Always Wanted to Play Piano - I Giorni Very well done, and soothing. How's that (not so new) baby? 45. Deep Elem (aka Buck) - I've Got You Under My Skin Really stylish, as usual. It's a great tune and you did a fine job on it. 42. jazzwee - Very Early Nice to see you in the recital. I don't know much about jazz, but I think this is definitely Evans. Great piece, and well played. 39. Monica K. - Melodia Africana Wow, Monica, that was cool! Way to go on that driving part - you were obviously ready for the stretch on the fast part. Whoo! 30. rustyfingers - Maple Leaf Rag Of course I'm biased, but it's highly likely this will turn out to be my favorite piece this recital I loved it. Not just foot tapping, but everything tapping. Great dynamics and accents, particularly in that left hand. I wanna be you when I grow up More to come . . . Cathy

I have to laugh every time I read what someone's had for lunch, and I laughed out loud when I read Ode2Joy's If someone were reading all the "other comments" and didn't know that was a suggested comment on the submittal form they'd think we were nuts. And then again - Cathy

21 Waltz - Canon in D (Variations), PachelbelThis is a beautiful piece, and while it is relatively simple, it is still quite challenging to play well and expressively. Nice job. 22 setchman (Eric Krueger) - His Gift, Eric KruegerYour composition moved me tremendously. What a beautiful piece! You are quite talented. 23 bluekeys - Misty, Erroll GarnerThis is a piece that everyone has played at one time or another. I love it, and I enjoyed your version. I love jazz, but a "legit" version of a beautiful song is just as enjoyable. 24 Eighty8 - Love is Here to Stay, Geo. & Ira GershwinYour version reminds me a bit of Ellington's. This is one of my favorite songs. I have a wonderful live recording made at a jazz "party" back around 1980 or so by Sue Raney, avery underrated jazz singer. Great job on a great song1 25 Copper - The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, Ewan MacCollAnother old favorite, this. I played this song many years ago, and I always liked it a great deal. Yours is a bit more leisurely than I played it. It's quite enjoyable at the slower tempo. 26 JohnFrank - Minuet in A Minor, Johan KriegerVery enjoyable! I like the repeat, too. Krieger was remiss in not including that in the original. 27 grotrianer - Intermezzo 118/2, BrahmsBeautifully played with wonderful dynamics and touch! 28 ddh (Daniel) - Prelude, opus 28 no 6, ChopinGood job, Daniel. I like it. 29 IPIBAHN Sandy - Prelude in E minor, ChopinYes, Sandy, I, too think it may be just a tad too fast. Nice job! I, too, sometimes have a tendency to rush through very slow pieces. 30 rustyfingers - Maple Leaf Rag. Scott JoplinProbably Joplin's second best known piece after The Entertainer, this one is a bit more difficult to play well. Wonderful job! Enjoyable, indeed. Well, it's really past my bedtime, now. Goodnight all . . .

I don't suppose anyone's surprised at the selections I've made for reviewing so far but I will get around to everybody eventually 25. Copper - The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face Wistful - exactly the right mood for this. I loved it. 24. Eighty8 - Love Is Here To Stay I love these old songs. Nice lush rendition here. 23. bluekeys - Misty I loved it. I'm with you - gotta walk before you can run. I'm just beginning to hear the harmonies/stylings and kind of getting them into my fingers so I can use them elsewhere. Well-played, and nice feel to it. 19. AnthonyB - La Nascita Delle Cose Segrete Anthony, this is a beautiful piece of music and you have a wonderful feel for it. And a toast to your live recital, too! 18. Serge88 - Don't Know Why (It's a good thing I previewed this post. Without this insert it read "Don't Know Why I like this a lot" - and I *do* know why I like this a lot! It's lovely.) I like this a lot, and I like watching you play and seeing how you get to different places on the keyboard. You have a sweet dog, there. 16. Ten Left Thumbs - Joe's Jump What a laugh! Really well done - I was jivin'. Terrific - fun piece. 12. TX-Dennis - Baby Mine I'm never disappointed with your pieces. This was lovely. 11. Riddler - Take Five ooo, ooo, ooo This was one of the first jazz pieces I ever recognized. I love it. I wish your talent ran in the family This was down and dirty - whoo!! More mid-week next week probably - got a busy couple of days comin' up around here. But great recital, everyone! Cathy

First batch, more to come 01. dannylux / Mel - Bortkiewicz Prelude in F# Major Op.33 No.7 Mel, you once again surprise with a not well known piece that strikes my heart to the deepest. I love the piece, and I love your playing even more. Fluent and passionate. Extraordinary performance! I feel I won't restrain myself from playing this at some point. 02. Mr Super-hunky - London Blue Despite what you say, you did nail it. I had a great time listening to this calm and emotional performance. 03. EJR (Elwyn) - Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme (Awake, the Voice commands) BWV 645 Busoni did justice to Bach in every transcription I heard, and you did justice to this piece. Don't be harsh on yourself, I loved it, Elwyn. 04. mahlzeit - Recital 15 I must admit I've been waiting for your piece. While I admire people who play well, I am totally jealous of those who can improvise and compose as well. Really nice! 05. Sam Smith - Traumerei Traumerei is a loooooot harder than it sounds, you did a wonderful job on this one, Sam! 06. TrueBeginner - Solitude TrueBeginner, I believe you should have change your nick already. You're no longer a TrueBeginner to my ears! This is a beautiful composition, I immediately felt sad, worried and concerned and felt your emotions. Wonderful. 07. Peyton - From Foreign Lands and People I must admit I have never been very fond of Schumann, but I have to agree with you - it really feels like an adventure to me! You did a great job on conveying the story, Peyton! I must get interested in his other compositions. 08. DragonPianoPlayer - Serenade Sadly, I haven't heard of Gillock, which I am ashamed of, as this is really a little gem. Thanks! 09. HomeInMyShoes - Songs Without Words, Op. 19, No. 6 (Venetian Boat Song) What to say... I love it, simply. 10. pianahman / Richard - Sinfonia No. 11 in G minor (BWV 797) Richard, Bach three part inventions are far out of my reach right now. As I cannot play them by myself, I am really glad I can listen to such great performances instead. 11. Riddler (Ed) - Take Five Whoa! One again, my feet is tapping with no control from my brain whatsoever! Ed, I will make a CD of your performances one day, I swear! 12. TX-Dennis (Dennis Turner) - Baby Mine Just lean back in the chair and listen... wonderful, Dennis. 13. Schubertian - 'Raindrop' Prelude (Op 28 #15) So you may consider yourself alive after playing the prelude, and I may consider myself alive after listening to it. I can't get tired of Raindrop. The thunderstorm adds even more quality to it 14. Mateusz 'Mati' Papiernik - Dear You Crappy, uneven left hand, poor dynamics and at leasts two mishaps in the score?! And you dare to send such a thing to a RECITAL? C'mon, man! Mateusz

Just a heads-up here, but for #47 Greenrain - Venetian Gondola Song, the recording file seems warped, and the result is a bit funny-sounding. Not sure if you can recover the original file, or maybe ask for a re-recording and re-post it?

15. Ken. - Cavalry Gallop, Op. 27, No. 29 It sounds really difficult! You tackled it marvelously. I think the tempo fits it well! 16. Ten Left Thumbs - Joe's Jump Very fun piece, I couldn't stop smiling 17. Euphonatrix - 2-part invention #14 in Bb Major 14 was Bach's favourite number and this is my favourite 2-part invention. Wonderful playing Euphonatrix, keep it up! 18. Serge88 - Don't Know Why Great playing! How did you do those many angles on your video? The dog was lovely too 19. AnthonyB - La Nascita Delle Cose Segrete I think I know what you mean by favourite piece to play. I loved it very much and hope I will learn it one day too, thanks for this few minutes of pure enjoyment, Anthony. 20. z32/Ben - Kiss the Rain I remembered the thread about Yiruma on the boards, I was curious whether someone will play one of his pieces for the recital. Very enjoyable, calm and soothing - and great tone too! 21. Waltz - Canon in D (Variations) It's a piece with very wide exposure, somehow I can't get tired with it. I play it on a violin, and have just watched "Kanon" anime, which title was inspired with Pachelbel's Canon. Great playing. 22. setchman - Eric Krueger - His Gift I have somehow missed the previous versions, I'm glad you posted it again. It's a beautful composition Eric! Are you a sound engineer? The recording quality blows me away - tweaked to the perfection! By the way, welcome back to the forums! 23. bluekeys - Misty Bluekeys, I always enjoy your playing very much and this time is no exception.

18. Serge88 - Don't Know Why I had to start my comments with this one because I hope to do it myself for the next recital. Great job on a very tricky song. I like what you did with the timing. I've been learning it straight off the sheets, which follow the nuances of Norah's vocals and make it hard to coordinate between the hands. Can you provide a link to the "video tutorial" you used? Great job on the video too, although it does reveal you got some help from your 4-legged friend.
19. AnthonyB - La Nascita Delle Cose Segrete That was amazing for 1.6 years. Very smooth, confident. Builds intensity in the middle which resolves nicely in the end. Great playing.
20. z32/Ben - Kiss the Rain Very beautiful song, very nicely played. Very professional sounding, especially for such a short time playing.
21. Waltz - Canon in D (Variations) Great performance of an all time favorite. I really enjoyed this version, maybe worth buying Alfred's 2 for a copy. Very calm and confident playing.
22. setchman - Eric Krueger - His Gift Very nicely done. Professional quality in both the playing and sound recording. Being your own composition makes it even more impressive. (Unfortunately I had to follow it. :frown)
23. bluekeys - Misty Boo hiss! Boring mudane rendition of an overplayed song.
24. Eighty8 - Love Is Here To Stay Very pretty song. You captured the feel of the era nicely, great playing.
25. Copper - The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face Nice job on a song from my era that you don't often hear anymore. I'm impressed by people who can sound good from fake books. Great job.
26. JohnFrank - MInuet in A Minor ( Nice playing. Very precise and delicate, perfect for a minuet. Very enjoyable.
27. grotrianer - Intermezzo 118/2 Very beautiful piece, performed with great intensity and fine control. Certainly one of the more accomplished efforts in our recital.
28. ddh - Daniel - Prelude, opus 28 no 6 Lovely piece. Executed flawlessly. Very delicate technique.
29. IPIBAHN Sandy - Prelude in E minor One of my favorites. Played extremely well.
30. rustyfingers - Maple Leaf Rag Another of my favs. A peppy respite from all the classical and new age. I loved this version. Great playing.

IPIBAHN Sandy - Prelude in E minor This one is a favorite of mine and I was eager to hear this one. I thought the pace was pretty good- maybe ever so sightly quick. Nice ending. Overall a very good job on a difficult(myop) piece to play. I was particularly interested in hearing this one. It is a new work in progress for me and I am having trouble with the left hand control on my acoustical piano.

Sam Smith - Traumerei
Very nice Sam. I have not listened to this piece in a long while. You have sparked my interest in this one.
TrueBeginner Thanks for sharing a piece so personal, hope all is well.
Peyton: From Foreign Lands and People
Peyton your versatility is amazing. It is always a nice surprise to click on your submittals. Excellent.
DragonPianoPlayer: Serenade
This was quite beautiful! I enjoyed listening very much.
HomeInMyShoes - Songs Without Words, Op. 19, No. 6 (Venetian Boat Song), Mendelssohn HIMS I am with you on this one - it is a wonderful piece and you played it so well. Thank You.

My first batch, starting in the middle.
Before I get into it, I want to say again how much I enjoy these recitals. Thanks Monica for doing the work, and also for everyone else who contributes in ways large and small. This is really a community effort and it always amazes me.
For some reason, none of the youtube videos I tried to watch were available or synched to the pieces. Don't know what that's about, but I was able to enjoy to the audio recordings.
31. Carl Mc - Amazing Grace Love the blue notes! Love this song…it’s so versatile, you can do anything with it. Nice tribute!
32. jotur - Cathy Turner - Cabri Waltz OK, I had to waltz around the room with my broom during this one, Cathy. You’re so good at keeping the rhythm consistent throughout. That’s something I should learn from you!
33. pianonewb - Amazing Grace I adore this accompaniment. The syncopation, and the bluesy grace notes lead me home! 34. dalcyonir - Debussy-Clair De Lune I so want to play this piece some day. I’ve tried a couple of times, but always get discouraged. This performance has inspired me to try again. I especially admire the control with your pianissimo with the big chords on the second page. 35. steveMac / Steve Mclean - Minuet BWV 114 I’ve [i]never[i/] posted a first take. (I think I average 11!). But if I got one like this, I surely would. Great job. I would have guessed you’d been playing for much longer than 3 months. 36. Bunneh (Daniel) - D. Scarlatti - Sonata K.32 L.423 I really enjoyed this piece—it brought me way back to my childhood when I must have studied it at some point. I think I played the triple grace notes more slowly than you do (probably my bad). Enjoyed the trip down memory lane. Very clean performance. 37. Euan Morrison - Truman Sleeps I don’t remember this from the movie, but it certainly evokes strong emotions. Great choice with great feeling. 38. Yamaha G-3 & P-80 Mike White - Chopin Waltz Op 64. No. 2 I enjoyed this much more than you did, apparently. Boy can I relate to the feeling of being sick to death of something. I often put it away and then feel a little disgusted that I can’t play it better. But you stuck with it, and gave us a gift of a few minutes of enjoyment. Thanks for sticking with it! 39. Monica K. - Melodia Africana III As always, I marvel at your ability to play so cleanly and with such feeling. Brava. 40. Glen R. - Minuet in G Major (No. 2) Sounds like you nailed it to me! Remember, the harpsichords of Bach’s day didn’t have dynamics. You played this very cleanly and crisply. 41. GregF - Not Mad at the World Anymore I hadn’t heard this piece before. It’s a real mood-swinger. 42. Jazzwee - Very Early So glad you decided to submit to your first recital. This does sound like a challenging piece. Love the changes though. Very satisfying. 43. praisehimau, Stephanie - Prelude In C Minor, wtc Book II I kinda like the effect—sounds a bit like a pipe organ. I admire you for being able to play Bach, which requires such precision. I’m more of a “fudge and slur†kinda gal myself. Nice job.
44. WJ3 - Minuet in G Major/Minor De Capo I really enjoyed how you put the two pieces together. It brought depth to an oft-played piece. You’re doing very well. 45. Deep Elem (aka Buck) - I've Got You Under My Skin I can always count on you for a lush and lovely version of one of my old favorites. You have such a feel for melody. I’m so glad you decided to submit this one, Buck. 46. tekkie - Cavatina This is another pretty piece I’ve never heard before. I like the melody a lot. Thanks for submitting it. 47. GreenRain - Venetian Gondola Song (Op. 30 No. 6) I can see why you enjoyed this piece so much. I can just imagine floating through the canals of Venice. Wonderful. 48. TTigg / Steve C - A Good Question One of my favorite things about our recitals is hearing new pieces. Your touching performance of this beautiful piece is a case in point. 49. epf - Andaluza (or Playera) #5 from 12 Spanish Dances I only know Granados through AdiagoM’s lovely performances in past recitals. (Where is she anyway?) So I’m so glad you submitted this. It’s dark, rhythmic and sultry. Love those surprising major chords. I can certainly imagine it on the guitar. Hope you are feeling better. 50. Beethoven Fan - Put out the Light How fun! I’m transported back to a wild west saloon somewhere! This must be a blast to play. 51. Always Wanted to Play Piano - I Giorni Very pretty. If it makes you feel any better, I never get a clean recording, of anything, despite umpteen plus takes. I’ve heard that the weavers of oriental rugs intentionally include mistakes because “only Allah is perfect.†This has become my piano recording motto. BTW, I didn’t hear your mistakes. I think we are often harder on ourselves than others are. Anyway, this was a lovely performance, and I’m glad you shared it with us. 52. Mar_red - Manhã de Carnaval (Carnival) Oooh, another dark and sultry song. Nice improv with a strong melody. Just how I like it. Neat triplet variation. 53. Mark... - Song Without Words So glad you decided to submit. Wouldn’t be the same without you. Very pretty piece. 54. Ode2Joy - Bagatelle Op. 33 No. 3 You’re in such great control of this piece, dynamics, tempo, melody, everything. Very very nice. 55. kokomo61 - Blues in Three This was really fun...I love the blues. I especially appreciated your strong sense of rhythm.

Here's my next batch of comments:
11. Riddler (Ed) - Take Five My absolute favorite jazz piece ever! Very well done. Bravo!
12. TX-Dennis (Dennis Turner) - Baby Mine This is a nice, gently piece with an underlay of sadness. Well done.
13. Schubertian - 'Raindrop' Prelude (Op 28 #15) Nicely done, good control of the repeating notes and the melodic arch at the beginning. The thunderstorm seems a little out of tempo -- you'll have to work on that. Good job on not overdriving the heavy bass. Excellent.
14. Mateusz 'Mati' Papiernik - Dear You Anime is another area where I have no knowledge. However, the music that I've heard from that genre seems to fall in to the rather broad category of "New Age" and this is brighter than most I have heard. Nicely done!
15. Ken. - Cavalry Gallop, Op. 27, No. 29 Ah, a Kabalevsky training piece
16. Ten Left Thumbs - Joe's Jump Very nice -- catchy rhythm, nice melody and good movement. Really enjoyable.
17. Euphonatrix - 2-part invention #14 in Bb Major Outstanding! Very well played with both voices dancing back and forth between the hands.
18. Serge88 - Don't Know Why Nice touch, gently persuasive. Enjoyable.
19. AnthonyB - La Nascita Delle Cose Segrete Well played, nice, even tempo and gentle touch that seems appropriate for the piece.
20. z32/Ben - Kiss the Rain Don't know this piece so can't comment on anything except what I heard. Seems well played with the upper register bringing out a feeling of raindrops. Nicely done.
More comments to come...

31 CarlMc - Amazing Grace, Newton, Carrell, & Clayton Nice job, Carl. You are more than ready for book 2. Very enjoyable.
32 jotur - Cathy Turner - Cabri Waltz, trad. That's a fun waltz that for some reason I had not heard before. Great job, Cathy. A very enjoyable performance.
33 pianonewb - Amazing Grace, Newton, Carrell, & Clayton I failed to read your comments completely, so when the vocal began I was surprised (in a good way, though). Are you serious about the four months thing? If so, you obviously have other musical experience in your background. Nice job on a classic hymn. Sounds like an old time "camp meetin'."
34 dalcyonir - Clair De Lune, DeBussy The youtube link took me to a different piece, so i came back to the mp3. Nice job, dalcyonir, on a beautiful piece.
35 steveMac (Steve Mclean) - Minuet BWV 114, Bach Steve, this does not sound above your level. THis is a remarkable performance for some one who has only been playing for 3 months. Beautiful job. I want some of that magic piano potion you've been ingesting.
36 Bunneh (Daniel) - Sonata K.32 L.423, Scarlatti Daniel, I enjoyed your performance. This is a beautiful piece, and I think you played it quite nicely but perhaps a bit quickly. I have always heard it at a bit slower tempo in the past. Other than that I am not qualified to comment on your technique other than to say nice job.
37 Euan Morrison - Truman Sleeps, Philip Glass I must confess to not having seen the movie nor heard the piece before. I must say, though, that it is a gorgeous peice of music made even more so by your artistic interpretation. Beautiful job, Euan.
38 Yamaha G-3 & P-80 Mike White - Chopin Waltz Op 64. No. 2, Chopin It was quite enjoyable. Your dynamics were quite nice. I enjoyed listening to your performance.
39 Monica K. - Melodia Africana III, Ludovico Einaudi I had never heard this one before. You are correct; it does start out sounding really easy. That changed quickly, though. It becomes something that sounds unimaginably difficult near the end. I am impressed with your clean playing on that part. Holy smoke, I don't think I could play that with a year of practice.
40 Glen R. - Minuet in G Major (No. 2), Bach This is not above your ability, Glen. I would say you played it beautifully.

First, thanks to Monica K, mahlzeit, LaValse, and Copper for their efforts in this recital. What a great idea! I enjoyed all the performances, was inspired by the progress an adult beginner can make, and got many ideas for pieces and genres to try. I particularly enjoyed the performances by - 2 - Mr. Super-Hunky (what a great screen name, btw!)
- 11 - Riddler (I found myself bobbing my head to the beat)
- 14 - Mateusz 'Mati' Papiernik (Beautiful and inspiring)
- 22 - setchman - Eric Krueger (Also beautiful and inspiring)
- 30 - rustyfingers (What a toe-tapper!)
- 33 - pianonewb (Hey, vocals! I really enjoyed them)
- 55 - kokomo61 (Ok, now I need to try blues)
And now I'm the proud owner of a recital medal!
