Hello.
Here is another piano that I can't find any info. on.
It's a 1995 August Förster model 114-1.
What would one be worth that is in excellent condition?
Are these good quality piano's?
Thanks again.

eh... somewhere around 11k. august forster is one of the premier german companies, quite rare in the US. so yes, they are among the very best pianos, but any upright is going to have more limitations than a grand, and at this price point, you can get a good used grand if you have the room.

After a little more digging it appears that some August Forster piano's were made/marketed by Petrof and built in the Czech Republic and sold to the Canadian market. Is this correct? Are they the same piano? Anyone played on a Czech. made August Forster?

In that era Petrof was indeed building this model in an older factory that was spun off to Bohemia where the Reiger Kloss pianos were built. It bears little resemblence to the honored August Forester pianos built in East Germany. It would bear more resemblance to a comparable Weinbach. This instrument would have likely retailed new for $4k-$6k. Used value today would be about $3500-$4500 due to the relative obscurity of the brand itself in the American market place and the clouded nature of the lineage of this model.

I viewed and auditioned the piano today. Beautiful tone, excellent condition. I really liked it. What was really interesting was the original brochure that he showed me that made no mention of Petrof. It boasted a direct link to the East German manufacture regarding its history ect. I emailed August Forster asking for clarification. Well see what happens. Thanks for all your input
on this.

Oh.
I should mention that this piano was definitely built in Czech. Rep.

If it was built in the Czech. Rep. then it is definitely not built by August Forster in East Germany. That fact pretty much tells the tale.
