I'm going to be in NYC this weekend, and I was wondering if Ori had opened his showroom in the city yet?

I know the former Bosendorfer of New York is still around with a a lot of great instruments, but I seem to recall that they aren't open on the weekends.

I'll obviously be swinging by Steinway Hall, Faust Harrison, the Bechstein showroom, etc... as well.

And also, if anyone knows of any piano-related performances going on sat or sunday, please pass that along as well.

Thanks!

I think Ori's showroom is/will be in Connecticut. Try Mannes School of Music at mannes.edu for possible performances.

i know his main showroom is up in CT, but when he became the bosie dealer for NYC, there was talk of a showroom in manhattan. i guess that hasn't happened yet. unfortunately, i won't have time to get out to CT.

It would be interesting to know WHY you don't have the time to travel less than an hour north.

Allegro Pianos has now opened their new elegant studio and I for one would travel by plane, train, or bus to get there!

(and have - just to visit his old studio!)

The new studio is fantastic. The "Taj Mahal" of piano. :-)

For now, Ori is representing Bosendorfer in NYC from Stamford, Ct.

Hi everyone,

I’d like to answer duncantwo question, and also relate to some of the remarks in this thread.

First, Allegro Pianos is the exclusive authorized dealer for Bosendorfer pianos in NYC, NY and New England.

Our new flagship showroom, which is also located in Stamford and about 45 minutes form Manhattan has recently been opened, and so now we now have two showrooms located within minutes of each other.

If there is any interest, I can post some pictures of this new showroom, which we built from the ground up to present our pianos.

Regarding another showroom… a decision about opening an additional showroom in Manhattan has not been made yet, but it is something that I'm considering.

For now, a visitor here to Stamford can try over 40 high quality and fully prepared new European pianos...which is a selection far greater than all of Manhattan’s 'piano row' stores combined.
Some find comparing such instruments to the variety of different vintage NY Steinway pianos on our showroom floor especially interesting, and so we often get visitors from much further than the greater NYC area.

Right now, I don't feel a pressing urge to go with the traditional 'high rent - high salary/commission - high expenses model', which is often translated into higher price, lesser service, and overall lower value for the consumer...when our new showroom, which is operating under a completely different business model, is a stone's throw from Westchester county NY, and only about 45 minutes from Manhattan.

Providing our customers with better service and value has always been my priority, and ultimately i think it to be the best assurance for having a successful business.
So, before opening another showroom, I'll look for the right opportunity to present itself, allowing me to do so without having to sacrifice our standards of operation...in spite of Manhattan’s high expenses.

As promised, a piano world party to celebrate the new piano showroom opening is in the plans, and everyone is invited! All we have to do now is simply set the date.

Until then, anyone who'd like to experience these pianos is most welcome to visit here (especially LJC and Roberta ! smile ), but please call ahead.
Thanks,

Ori

Ori

I, for one, would love to see pictures of your new Stamford showroom!

As I think I may have mentioned to you, at one time we lived only about 1/2 mile from there!!

thanks for settling things, Ori.

I'm sorry I won't be able to get out that way to see you this trip (and this answers lilylady's question as well), but I have to go to Long Island all day Saturday for a friend's party.

I'll be sure to give you a call the next time I'm in the area, though. I know---even before seeing pics---that your new showroom is a destination unto itself.

Ori,

Congratulations and good luck to you in your new store! BTW: I sure would like to know how to get to Stamford, CT in 45 minutes from Manhattan. I must be missing something here. Perhaps a helicopter?

Playing piano at age 2, it was thought that I was some sort of idiot-savant. As it turns out, I'm just an idiot.

Here you go:

The 9:07 AM train from Grand Central gets to Stamford Station at 9:51 - that is 44 minutes, as an example.

Thanks. I should have specified by car, as Ori noted in a previous post. I can't possibly get to my home in 45 minutes from midtown and Ori is further.

Oh - right you are! It takes 45 minutes just to dodge all the potholes on the freeway, as I recall.
