Okay, I have a huge test tomorrow, so I debated canceling my 3 lessons this morning. BUT I didn't.

I get a call at 8:30, her husband broke his foot, has to go to ER.

Next call is for siblings, mom is sick.

No lessons. I felt like saying, "it's okay, I was debating about canceling anyway..." BUT I didn't.

It's just a perk of our job that VERY, VERY rarely, we get paid for doing something else!

Feeling guilty? Yeah, but it's getting less and less. wink

It is better to be kind than to be right.

Well, I don't ever feel guilty about that. That is what I love about being my own boss. I can be flexible to accommodate families when things come up, and then they can accommodate me when things come up for me. I try to keep my stuff to a minimum, but life does happen.

Anyways, think of this as a blessing, and good luck on the test tomorrow!

The deacons have just one question for you, Reverend. Did ye, or did ye not enjoy the skating?
(punchline to a several hundred year old joke)

A broken foot or illness seems a reasonable excuse for cancelling a lesson, whether it happened to you or the student.

The question is whether you'd accept an upcoming exam as a reasonable excuse FROM a student.

If not, then yes you should feel guilty. And lucky!

Good luck on the test!

gotta go practice

My daughter's music teachers never canceled, except on one occasion: The teacher's husband died. That wonderful lady was back teaching the next week. We would have given her a LOT more than that, bless her heart.

I may or may not have been secretly glad when a student cancelled at the last minute and didn't get a refund/makeup. blush
