Hi everyone! I've been going through the threads and reading up on all these digital pianos and I have to say, there is a ton of info!

Now that I bought my own condo I think I am ready to purchase a piano. I do not want a standard piano because of the pain of moving it and tuning it, so I am looking into the digitals. I happened to look on craigslist and found a Yamaha YPG for $700 and Yamaha YDP S30 for $650

I am self taught but only really interested in classical music. I learned on a regular upright piano.

Definitely need: at least fully weighted keys and a good "classical piano" sound.

Would want: A pedal would be really nice, but not a game-breaker if all the other features are nice. I would also love to have "accompaniment." It has always been my dream to play something like the Emperor by Beethoven, and it would be super cool to have that accompaniment (by the way, how does that work exactly, would I need to buy some CDs or downloads to get this?)

Something under 1k would be ideal, but that's just an arbitrary number I set for myself. I know that it is really easy to get caught in the trap of "for only 200-300 more you can get X and Y" and then it keeps going up and up. I looked at these Yamahas, checked out their site (why are there sooo many different choices) and even looked at the roland hp-203. In that regard, I would definitely NOT look to spend more than $2500 (but I would really need to convince myself that it is "worth it" to buy something > 1k).

Finally, a way to plug into my stereo receiver 7 speaker setup would be nice, but as long as the built-in speakers are serviceable, that's okay too. This is just for my enjoyment, not to torment the neighbors or to perform.

Thank you for any advice.

I think so, but just to be sure, you should search to see if you can find a better price. My cousin brought hers at Sam Ash so I wouldn't know, but I still highly recommend it.

Okay thanks!

I was looking at the "what i paid" post and ran into instrumentpro.com... With a 10% off coupon, it is only 805 with shipping and it comes with:

Buy Today & We'll Throw In The Following Free Gifts!
Free Casio PBench Padded Keyboard Bench!
Free Casio GSDX Deluxe Keyboard Stand
Free Instrumentpro Deluxe Headphones!

I'll visit a Sam Ash and Guitar Center this weekend. Thanks again for your help smile The "snob" in me wants to buy a "better" brand from a piano company, but I guess casio will do. I used one of their graphing calculators from 7th grade to college :p
