The best advice I can probably offer here is to purchase the highest-quality equipment you can afford.

I bought my own tuning lever about 27 years ago, and it is still as good as the day I got it.

Quality never goes 'out-of-fashion' !

A secondary effect is that you will gaze upon the pro. tuner who arrives to save the day with rapt admiration and name your children or pets after him. It's all an insidious plot by the retailer.

For Touch up- A schaff lever will serve the job fine. I use a simple goose neck lever from schaff for re-stringing piano. I saw them use them at the Yamaha factory in Thomaston. George Dixson told they use that cause its light and fast to pull the strings tight. THey use the standard Yamaha lever in the tuning booths.

I've fixed twelve pianos where the owner thought he or she could be a do it youselfer. A local music store carries these cheap levers at fifteen dollars ( no mutes or strips ). The strings end up broken and then he or she can't figure out how to replace the string thanks to the action. Three times I had to replace the destroyed tuning pins.

If you are wanting to just touch up you are most likely better off calling up your tech and just seeing if they can swing by for a few minutes when they are in the area. I do it all the time with churches and teachers when most of the piano in tune and only a few unisons are off. If you want to start tuning and get a start in the biz then you need to start a proper account with a supply company for tools and parts and supplies.
