Has anyone heard any news about the status of Don Gilmore's (eromlignod) self-tuning piano mechanism? I had sent a PM a few months ago, and again a few days ago, but they have gone unanswered. Don if you read this, would love to hear how it's going! Thanks, GP

This thread seems to come up in a regular way.
Obviously, there is interest on PW about this development. Don G. has come on numerous times before, detailing the status of the invention and answering questions.
As such, it is pretty clear to me that if there is news to share, it would be forthcoming without someone having to ask repeatedly.
Could the non-response be the answer to your inquiries?

Yeah, yes... But, I'm interested also. This IS the piano technician's forum. Could turn out to be a better thread than some DIY.

Jurgen, I suppose you are right, however, in the past, Don has either posted here, or sent a PM in regards to any questions about his invention...I was hoping that would be the case now. I hope it is at some point in the future, successful for him, as it would be a boon for the industry and certainly for us!

Rumors of my death are greatly exaggerated.
The STP is back on track after a short hiatus. I installed all the sustainers and ran all the wiring back in December, only to find that I had made a fundamental wiring error and would have to rip it all back out again to re-solder it. I was so worn out and depressed that I decided to take a break for a few months (and took up the accordion for fun in the meantime!). When I finally knuckled down and took the sustainers out, it turned out to be an easy job and only took about ten minutes. "D'oh!"
Now I have found that I can't use the same 5V power supply for the strings and for the logic (too noisy), so I got another small power supply just for the electronics. Unfortunately, the power supply was bad, so Digi-Key is fixing it...sigh.
I wish I could post pictures, since it looks pretty cool, but that probably wouldn't be a good idea yet. I recently almost filed a lawsuit against Yamaha for infringing on some of my ideas already.
The invention has evolved as I have been putting it together and becomes slicker, cheaper and easier to install all the time. The system is now retro-fittable to existing pianos and you guys all know who's going to be installing and servicing them, so get ready!

Don, thanks very much for the update. Glad you were able to take some time off. Really looking forward to this. I hope there is someone in the Portland, Oregon area to install one! Continued success!

Hi Don, going through my messages here in PW, and I was curious as to how your self tuning device was progressing?
The way my critical ear is now that I have learned how to tune, and the way the 2 player machines play the piano everday, your device would be a god send. In any case, I hope all is well with it and look forward to it's release. Take care, GP

I am in the process of purchasing a loft in downtown Kansas City that includes a soundproof studio. This is what I needed to complete my testing. I'll keep you updated.
