Heard this nice story about the NEC shopping for a new Steinway for Jordan Hall. Classical pianists from the school traveled to Queens to audition 5 pianos.

Next stop Hamburg.

You can read or listen to the story here at WBUR Boston.

Bee Lady,
Thanks, that was fun to listen to. It really underscores the individuality of great pianos and also how differently pianists hear them and how they value different qualities in these instruments. It also points up how the "malleability" of the piano (the range of colors and sounds that a good pianist can produce with an instrument) is an important factor in selecting a concert instrument. I hope they post the visit to Hamburg as well! It's very cool that they plan to get one of each.
