This story about the benefit was on TV this morning. It was a fairly high-profile case in the San Francisco area, since the perpetrator not only shot (and paralyzed) a 10-year-old boy as he was taking a piano lesson, but also hijacked a State Assembly member's car at gunpoint.
After a little checking, I verified that the event is listed among the events scheduled at Davies Symphony Hall, and I found a link to the sponsoring organization (both URLs provided above), with contact phone numbers for both. I also found that the young piano student is only one of three beneficiaries of the benefit.
For those who may have missed the original story, I have two links: one a recent follow up from KPIX-TV http://cbs5.com/crime/don.perata.jared.2.971673.html
and one covering the original story, from CNN:http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/01/14/boy.shot/index.html
