Hi there,

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but maybe one of you has experienced something similar.

My girlfriend has a Casio Privia PX-100, and recently all the output cut off abruptly while it was being played. It still turns on and all the options and lights work, there's just no sound coming out from the speakers OR the output jack. I imagine it has something to do with a central output processor or something, but I'm hoping not. If any of you have had a similar experience I'd really appreciate knowing how you solved the problem.

I figured I'd try to check online before we call tech support tomorrow and probably have to bring/send it in for repairs.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris,

I'm not sure if that model saves settings when powered off or not. The setting that comes to mind is that you might have local control turned off. This makes the keyboard just a midi controller and turns off the sound from speakers and output jacks. See page E20 of the manual - I think it reads that it is Control A6 to turn local control back on.

The other option is that accompianment mode may be sent to Casio Chord or Fingered - but this usually on impacts half of the keyboard if that is the case. See E12 for the steps for this.

Rich

Yeah, I was going to suggest to check "local control" too. Accorrding to the manual (pg. E-20, like Dragon said), you have hold down the control button and press a certain key. From the picture, I think either D6 (2nd D from the top), F#6 (2nd F# from the top), or A7 (2nd A from the top) are your choices, but I could be wrong. Since all you have to do is hit a certain key and a button to turn it on and off, it could have easily been switched off by mistake.

Making sure accompaniment mode is set to normal is another good suggestion by Dragon. To do this (pg. E-12), you hold down control and press F2 (2nd F from the bottom).

But like Dragon, I'm not sure why either of these settings would have been saved when you powered the unit off. But it's worth a try anyway.

Check the manual to make sure I've given you the right keys above. If you don't have a copy, you can view it here:

Good Luck!
