It's Fun to Play the Piano ... Please Pass It On!
Great taste Key Notes, it just so happens to be the Good, the Bad & the Ugly is my favorite movie of all time. Also loved the music from Last of the Mohicans.
Man I love this thread. I'm listening to "Vesperia" right now on Rhapsody, and it is just sublime. Reminds me a lot of James Asher's "The Great Wheel." Thanks for introducing me to him!

If someone can post Nightwish, I can post Within Temptation.
Their Black Symphony DVD is one of the finest musical performances I have ever witnessed, live or recorded. It is symphonic metal like Nightwish, but they did a live concert backed by an orchestra.
In 15 years of knowing my wife, she has exactly once asked for a copy of my music. It was Black Symphony.
I just have to say that, thanks to this forum, both I and my daughter have become huge fans of progressive metal music. Within Temptation is probably my favorite group in this genre, but Nightwish is right up there, along with Epica and some Lacuna Coil. I just love Nightwish's cover of "Walking in the Air":
The cool thing is that I was wasting time the other day and looking at all these groups' websites, and I discovered that Nightwish is playing in Louisville, of all places, in just a couple of weeks!!! I promptly ordered two tickets. (When hubby heard that it was being held at a smallish nightclub, general admission, NO seats available, which thus meant standing the whole time in a crowd of screaming progressive metal fans, he oddly decided to stay home with the 9 year old. Sheesh.)
That is soooo cool Monika. Enjoy and please let us know how it goes.
Perhaps you can sneak in a couple of folding lawn chairs, complete with drink holders of course, and you guys are all set.
Thanks for sharing some of your favorites. I've never seen Mario Frangoulis's rendition of Hijo de La Luna before, very nice. And I've seen Arthur Hanlon's video before and while I didn't care for the visuals, I did absolutely loved his piano performance of the piece.
And although I'm not too fond of the lyrics of Cruz de navajas, I did enjoyed both the smooth singing voice and rhythms of that song and Me Cuesta tanto olvidarte quite a lot.
Thanks again for sharing. Below is one of my favorite singer, Nana Mouskouri, singing Aranjuez mon amour by Joaquin Rodrigo, which of course has also been sung many times in Spanish.
Et sur ce mur lorsque le soir descend On croirait voir des taches de sang Ce ne sont que des roses ! Aranjuez, mon amour
And in English:
My love, water fountains, my love Or bring the wind, my love The evening fell, we see float Rose petals
My love and my walls chaps my love Sun, wind and rain in the years that are passing Since the morning of May they came When singing, they suddenly wrote on the walls of the end of their rifle Of strange things
My love, the rose following the footsteps, my love On the wall and enlace, my love Their names were engraved, and each A beautiful red roses
My love, the fountains dry, my love Sun, wind of the plain and the years that are passing Since the morning of May he came The flower in the heart, bare feet, the slow pace And eyes lit by a strange smile
And on the wall when the night falls You would think seeing blood stains These are just roses! Aranjuez, my love
And another one of my favorite guitarist, Paco de LucÃÂa, performing Concierto De Aranjuez.
Ejay - thanks for the music. I knew who Rick Thum was because I subscribe to Dulcimer News, but I had never heard him. But that's my kind of music. A friend of mine built a dulcimer for me that he strung with harpsichord wire. I haven't played it in ages because I just don't have time for piano and that, too, but people love it when I do. Thanks again -
And here's my contribution - Black and White Rag, but certainly not as I played it in the ABF recital!
I'm afraid my dulcimer is taking a back seat right now too..literally.. its behind the sofa, so my bairn can't reach it, and it is too noisy to play when she naps. I also don't have the time to tune it right now, its a 16/15 handmade for me by Tim Manning of Music Magic.
One day when my kids get older I will go on a tour of dulcimer festivals to meet and learn from the many talented players across the globe :), perhaps by then, my piano playing will be good enough to play jigs and reels too!!

Nice. It's like Asleep at the Wheel light. I love Asleep at the Wheel. They perform here about once a year, and it is always a delight.
I like Asleep at the Wheel, too. I have a honky tonk piano video from Home Spun Tapes done by Tim Alexander, who played piano with them on a couple of their albums.

Perhaps "more music" is always the answer, no matter what the question might be! - Qwerty53

Very nice. If you like this kind of music you should definately check out the classic 'Michael Stearns - Planetary Unfolding' if you can find it. It's without a doubt my all time favorite electronic album (even though Steve Roach is my favorite artist).

Thanks everyone for sharing some of the most unique, interesting and beautiful music. It's always so nice to be able to discover the new while enjoying the old.
Babama,
How can we go wrong with John Denver and one of my most respected and revered idol of the sea and his crew. I admired Jack Cousteau and his organizations so much so that I even made and illustration project out of them for a class project way back when I was still in school. While I love my work and current career, it has always been and will continued to be my dream job to be able to dive and work along sides these people on such fabulously interesting projects.
Jotur,
What a fantastic sounding band the Swing Commanders are, and I definitley love the dance performance of GI Jive. I've only had a couple of Jive and Lindy Hop lessons in the past but wow, it was so much fun and certainly required a lot of cardiovascular staminas. Comparatively similar to perhaps high-impact step aroebics exercises, except with a lot more interesting dance step patterns.
