Elssa - I am a big fan of your playing and your always excellent song choices. Well done. I really think you could find work as a lounge pianist.

"How do you proceed to add strings?"

Hi YoYo; I see you also have a Roland.. With mine, there's a strings preset button with then choices of different types of strings to choose on the middle screen. I always use the "Legato Strings" because they're the softest sounding. smile

"I really think you could find work as a lounge pianist."

Thanks for the encouragement, B52...I really appreciate it! I think you could easily find a steady lounge piano gig, too. smile There aren't any venues for solo pianists around here, though, unfortunately. How about where you are?

That is real pretty Joe. I love the main melody and the decending chords. It has an almost longing, sad feel to it.

Thanks Peyton,

I appreciate the listen and the comments. Yeah, it was intended to have a melancholy mood.

That was one of the most beautiful pieces I've ever heard.

Joe,

Beautiful melody, full of fascinating harmonic twists and turns. Great arrangement and playing!

Joe,

Very nice! I really enjoyed the development and the way you moved the piece along. Good job!

Joe, "Stella" is a lovely composition. I don't suppose you'd be interested in sharing the sheet music with us? *hopeful*

Deborah,
I haven't written the sheet music yet. The recording was played by ear/memory. I do need to notate it though, and I will share it when I have it finished. Thanks for the review, glad you liked it. I will begin working on the notation and let you know when I have it completed.

Thanks also to Riddler and epf for the kind remarks.

Joe, I look forward to it!

I must be in a bit of a plaintive mood or something. The pieces I find myself listening to over and over this month are Joe's "Stella," Peyton's "Salt Marsh," and HomeInMyShoes' "More messing around with those four chords." That last one's a winner for best title, by the way. smile

I have to say that I, for one, prefer audio recordings to videos. It's not that I don't want to see people play, it's that my old(ish) computer isn't good with videos. I can usually hear them just fine, but the image jumps, stutters, freezes ... It's quite maddening. And sometimes, as turned out to be the case, with yoyofr's pieces, even the audio won't play correctly. Just an FYI on behalf of those of us with older technology. YouTube is not our friend. frown

This thread is just so random. yoyofr, ellsa, jw7480, and I know I'm missing others. What a treat. All of it.

More of the cycle: number 2

I've been trying to get a recording of number 1 out of the way, but it might be beyond me to get it right.

A little more serious and brooding than the other two.

Homeinmyshoes- I like that #2. Almost a bluesy Eric Satie.

Mike... Raggedy??? Man that was smooth! And I agree with Dennis, the recording/piano sound is really good. Great playing.

I haven't made piano music (yet), but years ago I made some ambient music on a Roland XP-80 synthesizer. Here's a dreamy piece:

Joe - Beautiful song. I enjoyed the composition and the playing greatly.

HomeInMyShoes & Mike A - Very nice playing. Definitely my style of music.

babama - The piece started a little slow, but the second half was worth the wait. Thanks!

Boing *bounces back from somewhere*

Man, I should really get back into this forum... I guess I'll post something. Here is a video recording (2 actually, and my first ever public video!) of me playing Piano Squall's Final Fantasy Battle Medley. You won't see my face though, because I'm camera shy... :P No, not really. But you'll still only get to see my hands. lol

I had to split the video into 2 parts because it's over 10 minutes and YouTube hates that. Anyway, here it is.

Part 1
Part 2

Grr, messed up the ending... Oh well... It isn't as good as I wanted, and there are quite a few mistakes, but overall, it's not too bad. Man, video recording is even harder to do than audio recording...
Sorry for the crap video quality. I recorded it with my mobile phone.

Honnli,
Great to see you posting your playing. AWESOME!!! You got flying fingers! (The video quality is amazingly good actually.)

How long have you been playing the piano? This certainly looks like a very difficult piece. How long does it take you to get this piece to this stage?

Why, thank you! ^^

I have been playing the piano for about 2 years now, but that isn't counting the 2 and a half years of lessons I had 10 years ago, although I haven't played the piano between then and 2006. As for the medley, I have been playing it for about 2 years on and off. I haven't played much piano in the last year because of my studies, so maybe 1 and X years, with the X being a fraction. grin The actual recording of this video took a while, though. Like 50 tries...although most of the time, I didn't make it through the whole medley. grin

Here is a second video I have done. It is me playing an InuYasha mini medley which consists of the pieces "Change the World" and "Every Heart", both arranged by Piano Squall. Enjoy.
