Hi,

I was just wondering... why would someone buy an AvantGrand versus a silent acoustic piano?
AvantGrand is going to be way more expensive...
And when you want to play it through the speakers, it's only samples, not real strings..

Don't have to keep a DP tuned, don't have to maintain humidity/temp, and don't have as much weight.

For a variety of reasons I was going to convert my acoustic grand to a hybrid by installing a stop-rail and MIDI strip which I would use to drive the Ivory software piano. The technician I had contacted to do the job was a very honest fellow and admitted to being uncomfortable using the stop-rail as it seriously affects the keyboard feel.

Also, based on many of the postings on this forum I was concerned that I would never get a loudspeaker configuration that would make the sound replicate the enveloping feeling of the acoustic. Apparently for those who have tried the AvantGrand at NAAM, the sound system is such that it comes very close to reproducing the "enveloping" quality.

In addition, it's a 1.5' shorter than my acoustic grand. I could use the space.

Personally, I can hardly wait to give it a try.

Ok, I did look up some videos on youtube, and it looks interesting.
I think I am going to wait until this summer before committing on a DP. smile
The feel of the keyboard is really what I am curious about.
They're talking about the N3 being the first one of a series. I wonder how many more they have planned after the N3 and N2?
