I have an opportunity to purchase a yamaha clavinova clp 220 digital piano that has been used in a private piano teacher's studio for one year. She is offering it to me for $1,000. She was asking $1,200 but will sell it for $1,000. Is this a fair price? My 10 year-old son is taking piano lessons and needs an 88 key piano and his piano teacher suggested this brand piano, because that's what my son uses in his piano class. I don't know a thing about pianos, but is $1,000 a pretty good price to pay for this yamaha? I would love a reply asap. Thank you! Carrie

I don't know how much the CLP220 sold for when new. But I'd guess about $1500, maybe less.

Digital pianos depreciate very quickly, and a DP used for a year in a studio might have greater than normal wear. I think $1000 is too much.

Also, you can get the much better YDP160 for $1500 new, or a CLP320 for about the same, or the MUCH BETTER CLP330 for a bit more. The latter has a much better keyboard, and better speakers. It looks much better, too.
