Help. Trying to locate a piece of music called A Mother's Prayer that I played as a teenager for...my mother. The piece started with A minor arpegios, both hands doing octaves. All that a current search turns up is a choral song with no relationship.

Does anyone else recall this song. I would love to find a copy of the music.

Bless you. That is the piece. The arrangement I recall is a bit more complex, but now I can also search on the composer's name. Thank you so much!

I'm glad to help. Other writers have songs with this title. The most recent is sung by Celine Deon- a song by Foster and Bayer-Sager. The Library of Congress has the sheet music by Otto Sutro from the late 1800s. smile

Gary, I know the song you're looking for! I, too, played it as a teenager and was looking for the sheet music, and this is how I ran across your post. I found my copy in my mom's piano bench this afternoon, and it is as you described it with octaves and arpeggios. It has a destinctivly melancholy, andante, somewhat "Russian" sound. It is "A Mother's Prayer" by I. B. Arenstien. I'd be happy to scan and email you what I have, if you haven't already found it.

Any chance you could send me a copy of the sheet music as well. The description of this piece sounds like piece I've been looking for.

Welcome to the forum, yale-piano. smile It looks like bellyofthewhale hasn't posted in the past three years, so I'm guessing he/she isn't going to see your request. You can try sending a private message (click on belly's name, then on "send a PM"), and if he/she clicked the right option, he/she will get an email about the PM.
