Frank set up a poll in the new forum change thread asking people to vote for 10 vs. 11 pt. Verdana font. Only 29 people have voted so far, so I figure a lot of people (a) aren't checking into that thread any more, or (b) don't care. laugh

If you do care, check out the poll and voice a preference:

I'm glad you posted this, Monica.

The 10 point font that was used previously was a completely different typeface called Trebuchet.

The current typeface is Verdana, and it is far more legible even at 10 point than Trebuchet was.

This links to a message with text in Verdana 10 point so you can see how it compares with the Verdana 11 point that is the current default:

This is Frank's poll:

The following is this message in Verdana 10 point:

Greetings.

Holding the "CTRL" key down and rolling your mouse-wheel forward/back will reduce/enlarge the font size on this site, and any other site that does not hard code fonts.

And just one tiny opinion: The color scheme is nice, but there's not enough variation in colors to help pick out the different elements of the site. Things seem to kind of blend together.

But I'm kind of getting used to it.

The one problem with changing fontsize on your browser is that all other websites will thus be affected, and you would have to manually make these adjustments everytime you visit Piano World, or navigate away from it.

This 11-point font seems pretty big in relation to other forums and websites I use. I'd be happiest if we could duplicate what was used on the old site.

Since the Verdana font has nice legibility I think the 10-point size works quite well. It also means more posts can be fit onto a screen, resulting in less scrolling - this helps those of us suffering from carpal tunnel! laugh

Have you seen the small menu near the bottom of the page - you can select different color schemes there. I quite like the black/gold one myself.

It may work that way on older broswers or IE, but for Firefox 3.0.5, font-size changes made via the *mouse-wheel* effect only the site you've manually changed.

The old forums were set to:

Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif size 2 which is what this sentence is (instead of a fixed point size).

By setting it to 2, the relative size is controlled by your browser, instead of saying 10,11, or 12 points (this sentence is Verdana 11pt).
