A departure from the standard repertoire, here is an improvisation, a trifle really, I played in the moment quite recently. I hope you'll enjoy it. Here is the link:

its very interesting how your improvisation has taken the role of a russian prelude, i suppose you take inspiration from what you play.

beautiful piece david, keep up the great work

Thanks Zac,

Yes, there probably is some Russian influence there. Where it's an improv, there are some fluffs of course, but when something is being played spontaneously, that's to be expected I guess. I enjoyed doing it though, and in those very few moments I learned a ton about improvising! That stuff can be addictive though--I've seen it before in others. So I've gone back home to the standard repertoire. Not that I would never do another improv, I might if a good idea were to enter my head. But for now, I'm practicing Catoire!

Yeah, but I still prefer the look of the old format. It was less boxy, more streamlined, and you could see more on one page IMHO.

Yes, thanks for that! I noticed it too this morning when I was here. In "preferences" I enlarged it to 25 per page and can extend it more. At least you can fix some of these things!

Hi apple*,

Thanks so much! I'm glad you really liked it. I just looked at Piano Street's Improvisations page and found that 209 people have read it and a very surprising 130 have actually listened to it so far. Plus the comments have all been favorable. Where it has a romantic flavor to it (definitely not "modern music"), I didn't quite know how it might be received, but it seems to have gone over well. Never before had I done an improvisation, so I attribute this to "beginner's luck". smile
