Hello all,

This is the second song I've ever composed..titled "Always". I wrote it after the death of a close friend over a year ago. It is rather simple and "new age-ish" I suppose, but I've enjoyed the learning process involved.

Today I learned how to record to a sound card from my digital piano...so I thought I would share it with you. I also would like to make sure this box.net link works..also a first for me.

Any feedback will be appreciated. Thanks!

Sorry you are having problems with this..
I just tried double clicking on the title rather than downloading the file. This is what worked for me..but then again, I'm new to this!

Very nice, Expressively played.

The sound quality of the midi data as rendered by my sound card is very tinny sounding. I'm sure it was much better played on your keyboard.

You should now learn how convert the actual audio from your keyboard to mp3. Mp3s are more universal, and should sound the same to everyone.

Thanks for your comments Joe! They are much appreciated.

You are right... The sound is "tinny" on my computer too.. Since posting this, I have found someone to help me create / convert to Mp3 files later this week.

Thanks again!

Sounds nice. I'm always a little skeptical about these sorts of elegy pieces because so few people really get the elegy genre.

I think it would have been nice if we could have got to know your friend through your music. Rather than just write a generic ballad-type piece, it would have been more powerful if we got to have a glimpse of your friends personality and life.

Music really does have that power!

Not bad, Teri.

You compose in a form very similar to that of how I improvise. I like the general theme, although I do have to agree with DP that it does have a "generic ballad-type" sound to it. (Don't take it too personally though -- one of my worst habits is composing music in such a manner.) The harmony is somewhat predictable, but tender. The melody is lyrical and enjoyable to listen to, again, giving it a ballad-like characteristic.

In general, a very sweet, simple composition!

I'd love to listen Teri, but I can't playback MIDI here. If you ever post an audio mp3 let me know.

I'm still a pencil & manuscript composer that lays tracks down in real time. I know; I'm prehistoric.

Best, John

Thank you all very much for your feedback. I truly appreciate it!

Since writing this piece, I have enrolled in composition instruction with sole purpose of adding depth and intricacy to my compositions. What a difference has made! I look forward to one day posting my more recent pieces in Mp3 format..

Thanks again for all of your comments!

Teri
