Today for Christmas, I received Finale Allegro. I've written quite a few pieces and ideas on Finale Notepad, and want to be able to transfer them to Allegro. I've read through the instruction manuel and spent a long time on the computer trying to transer the files into Allegro, but I couldn't figure out how. I would appreciate some help on how to accomplish that if it is possible. Thank you.

I don't know if a direct transfer is possible, if not export each score to MIDI in notepad and import that MIDI file in Allegro. You might lose some minor piano-specific marks that don't translate well to MIDI but 99% of the score should be transferred this way.

Have fun with Allegro by the way, it's a great program. laugh

Hmm, I would think they'd be compatible. Both read/write the .mus format. You should be able to take your saved files and just open them up in Allegro. You may need to tweak some of the shapes (i.e. slurs, cresc/dim, articulations, etc.), but the bulk of it should be intact.

Well, I don't know why, but somehow I am not able to open up my Notepad files into Allegro. I guess I'll just have to print them out and write them into Allegro. Thank you for the help.

This is just crazy. Have you tried calling tech support? Finale is goofy in that you can open Finale 2003 files in Finale 2004, but not the reverse. I would think they'd make it easy to open Notepad files in Allegro as a reward for investing in their product.

Says it on their compatibility page - Allegro can't open current Notepad files.
