Hi Katey,

I use an earlier version for PC (5.5.1). If you're going to be using Logic Pro 7 you should be aware of the Logic Users Group at Yahoo. It has over 20,000 members. I've been a member for over a decade. I've used Logic and its precursors, Creator and Notator, for almost 20 years. I'm providing two links for the LUG, one at Yahoo, one that's independant.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/logic-users/
http://logic-users.org/

I hope that helps. So what will you be doing with Logic writing and recording songs or works?

Hi Steve
Thanks again for your really useful links. I am going to join the Yahoo Group now!! By the way, I listened to some of your music and I think its wonderful and really interesting - Yesterday is History in particular I think is fantastic.
I plan to finally do some serious composing and recording on Logic, and want to enter some composing competitions to get some of my work performed. At the moment I am interested in writing music for classical orchestral instruments although might try some dance music too. Apparently, Logic Pro 7 comes with a lot of virtual instruments, but I am thinking of getting one of the EastWest orchestras, which you recommended to me before. The Silver one is on sale in the UK for £99. I think I mentioned before, I am doing a music course part-time which has made me realise that composing is what I want to do with my life! I desperately want to cut down on my day job, but have not yet had the courage to do so. I am in the position of not having made any money out of composing yet, but not having enough time to compose because I have another job full time! Do you compose professionally full-time, if you don't mind me asking?

Hi Katey,

Thank you for your kind words and appreciation of my music. It's always great to hear and not something I get very much of.

Regarding Logic for composition I love it, but the notation side was a disappointment in terms of producing publisher quality scores when I first git involved. I'm told it's better and there is a group at the LUG that swears by it, but for my own pieces I use Finale for notation. I compose in addition to being a married father of 2 with a full time job and a Black Belt. I wish I could devote more time to it. We have a statewide composers forum that's pretty active and that keeps me motivated because they'll actually perform my pieces. Since you're here at Pianoworld you must also be a player. PM me if you're interested in a PDF of some piano pieces of mine. Thanks.
