The Road Not Taken

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and Ió
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
-------------------------

First thoughts: a slow, melancholic song. Will work it out and post as soon as I get something. smile Expect The Worst. wink

This one should be easy.
Several bars of silence should suffice. wink

Seriously, this is a good choice.
It's a nice poem.

Dang...I was hoping nobody would take that road. :p wink

Every day we are afforded a new chance. The problem with life is not that you run out of chances. In the end, what you run out of are days.

Ok, put some ideas together for your evaluation. Just two ideas, the first for the road 'less traveled by' and the second, more happy sounding for the more popular road.

Hear it here, sloppily played and uploaded with great shame:
http://getfile.biz/19545

Remember this ain't the song just some ideas. Any feedback appreciated. smile

ps. I realise that the first three or so notes are missing, will upload some notations later.

Weird, tried it a few times but seems to work ok here. If you keep getting this error I can upload it elsewhere or mail it if you'd like.

Yes, I like it too.
The harmonies are nice.
There is a sense of desolation which is apt for 'the road not taken'.

Hmmm . . . I wonder if I'm doing something wrong downloading it. When I hit "download", it asks if I want to open, save, or cancel. So I click on open. Then is says at the bottom of the screen in the grey line: "downloading, etc." Then it says, "done". But nothing happens. Maybe I don't have the capability on my computer to play the format it is in. I do the same thing on the www.savefile.com site others on the forum use quite a bit and it always works. I'll try some others recording links on the site I've played before and see if they work, then I'd know if it is a problem with my computer. Sorry I can't comment frown .

I tried a couple other members recordings under the savefile website and they worked. I guess the other site doesn't like me.

try saving it to the harddisk and deleting it when you've listened. You're trying to directly open it from within the browser and that can cause a variety of problems, depending on your system setup.

I played through it on my piano. It is very beautiful. It's a really expressive piece. Wonderful expressive harmonies!

What software did you use for notating the score? Did you "play" it in, or notate it from "scratch", or other?

Thanks, glad you liked it! I used Sibelius 4 to notated it, really wonderfull piece of software. I just wrote it down from scratch, really doesn't take that much time at all. When playing it in through MIDI you have to play very accurately to get it notated properly or you'll have to spend hours fixing it.

And props for playing it yourself. I wish I could just pick up my score and play it, always takes me way too long to learn my pieces. frown
