I am in the mood for some Diana Krall stuff right now... so I thought why not make a new thread for her.

BTW has Diana had her babies yet; I heard she is carrying twins.

You have great taste Arias. Diana Krall is great to listen to, she has her own sense of style and taste. She has a great combo to boot.

BTW, is that Selena on your avatar or yourself?
I have been wondering?

I have a Selena DVD that I enjoy... it is a shame Selena died too young and so tragically.

I am glad someone else enjoyed those D. Krall videos I ventured upon this am. Thank you for being so kind Arias.

I remember you... you are the one who flamed Rick awhile back I believe. If so, that explains this sort of subtle looking flame post you sent.

Back to ignoring the paper pusher person...

Now back to the topic of Diana Krall...

Who has had the chance to see her live anywhere?

I have seen her live show and I think she is over rated as a singer. Her singing is boring and lifeless. If she were ugly she would not even be famous. I like her piano playing more than her singing. She does have great sideman players.

Diana Krall has a well-crafted act. My lyricist tried to get some of our songs to her through her sister. Her sister is a fund-raiser for a children's hospital in Canada where my lyricist lives.

She only sings her own songs or songs from the "Great American Songbook" - so she's a dead-end as far as considering her for your songs.

She does have a subtle sexiness about her.

Best, John

Just seen this new topic. I have quite a few video recordings of Diana going back to about 2000 year.

I think you are a touch hard on her 'rintincop'. But she is a slow singer and it gets a little sleepy for want of another word.

East of the Sun and Route 66 are good I think and others in the same tempo.

Her jazz piano I do like and it is certainly her own style.

She was on the latest tribute to Oscar Peterson, shown on British TV the other night.

Very sexy woman and congratulations on the twins must see her website.

Alan

Ouch! I hope Diana don't read your critique.

I don't really see her singing as that bad as you describe... though she is not in the same league as say Ella, Lady Day, Peggy Lee, etc. But she is still young so there is time for her to grow as a singer. Jane Monheit is a better singer imb.

Her playing is her forte. I would like to see her expand her range and do more upbeat swing stuff.

I do like the way she does "The Frim Fram Sauce" tune... and her own "Popsicle Toes" tune is cute and sexy.
