I could really use some advise on great sounding but not too hard jazz and blues sheets.

My playing is to about abrsm grade 5 or so so it doesnt have to be too easy. I have just played learnt and played through most of the first 2 pages ofbilly joel new york stste of mind so I was thinking along those lines.

I guess I am looking for a dirty/gritty kind of blues with an edge.

Any help is most welcome

Try David Benoit's music. He has 3 books available. Just google his name and go to his web page.

The Song book from the movie "The Firm" has a couple of good blues in there. Ray's Blues is awesome and the transcriptions are very good. Note for note.

Memphis Stomp is a monster that I've been working on for awhile, and to me it's pretty friggen hard. It's a definite crowd pleaser.

You can listen to clips from the soundtrack album on amazon to see if they are to your liking.

As spin doctor said go and buy "The Firm Soundtrack" sheet music book. It has plenty of great piano solo tracks in there, which are mainly blues. The transcriptions are almost perfect. Some good ones....

Memphis Stomp
Ray's Blues
The Firm - Main Title
The Blues - Death of Love and Trust

There is also another 2 upbeat pieces I forgot the names of.

you are going to love the cd. Dave grusin is a monster pianist and plays wicked on that album.

You may also want to get the actual film because the recordings are slighly different. PLus it's actually a decent film with some heavyweight hollywoods.
