I just got a piano and it doesn't have the brand name anywhere. but I found 'conway compay, boston' inside of the piano. I tried to find more information about this piano but it was hard to find any. The serial # is 75675 and it is a upright piano. It is very very simple. The owner told me that it was 1945, made in germany which got me interested but it just confused me when i saw "Boston". Could anybody let me know the brief history of this company and maybe a possible value of this piano?

It was made in 1922, probably in New York (not Germany). The company was controlled by Hallet & Davis. They made pianos under this name from 1906 to 1940.

Without seeing it, it's hard to evaluate its condition (tuning pin torque and so on), but pianos unfortunately don't have an antique value. If no work has been done on it in 85 years, it's probably worth a few hundred at most.

Thank you so much for the information. Well, the owner told me that it was re-strung 15 years ago, but never tuned since then. hmm, at least it plays okay. I should find a good technician for tuning.

Once again, thanks so much!!

Wow! Re-strung, but never tuned? What kind of condition will those "new" strings be in now, I wonder? Will a tech still be able to stretch them to pitch? Will they still be able to stay in pitch after the requisite number of tunings?

Sorry I just sent a blank message. I have a Conway baby grand serial #226768 can you tell me where to look to find information about this piano? I have googled without success.
Thank you very much.
